Important Club Information
We are thrilled to announce the return of our after-school clubs for this semester! These clubs offer a unique and enriching experience outside the regular academic curriculum, allowing students to explore their interests, develop new skills, and foster a sense of community. Joining an after-school club is more than just an extra activity; it's an opportunity for personal growth and social development. Students who engage in these clubs often find a sense of belonging, build lasting friendships, and enhance their teamwork and leadership skills. Additionally, participating in these clubs can be a great way to unwind and pursue passions that might not fit into the regular school day. From arts to science, extra academic support to technology, there's a club for every interest! We encourage every student to take part in these exciting opportunities, and we look forward to seeing the wonderful contributions they will bring to our school community. Let's make this semester vibrant and memorable with our after-school clubs!

Consent for Physical and Mental Health Services
Non-Emergency & Emergency Medical Care Treatment - Nurses & Employee Support
In accordance with the recently passed "Familiesβ Rights and Responsibilities Act," Public Chapter No. 1061, minor students cannot receive medical care without the consent of a parent/legal guardian. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning and bandaging minor cuts/abrasions, providing an ice pack, dispensing, delivering, or administering any drug or medication, and/or managing injuries. If a parent/legal guardian does NOT provide consent to treat, the school nurse and/or any other school employee can only treat the student in the case of an emergency.
Counseling Services β School Counselors and Contracted Mental Health Service Providers
According to Tennessee's Public Chapter 1061, parents or legal guardians must provide written permission for their minor children to receive counseling services from either a school counselor or a contracted service provider, such as Frontier Health. If a parent/legal guardian does NOT provide consent for counseling services, a school counselor or a contracted service provider can only provide services in the case of a mental health crisis/emergency. Permission is not required for students to see school counselors for academic planning purposes or in situations such as resolving interpersonal conflicts between students.
School counselors and contracted mental health service providers located in schools aim to support the mental and emotional well-being of students.
Individual and group counseling for emotional and behavioral issues, including but are not limited to:
- Support for students dealing with trauma or significant life changes
- Substance abuse counseling and prevention programs
- Support for anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions
- Coordination with external mental health providers
Consent
Please complete a consent form for each child for ECLC/Pre-K through 12th grade by Friday, August 16, 2024. Medical care and counseling services cannot be provided until consent is granted.
- English Version - Consent for School Medical Care and Counseling Support
- Spanish Version - Consent for School Medical Care and Counseling Support
Please use the QR code below to complete a form for every ECLC/Pre-K through 12th grade student, indicating whether you give consent for your student to receive basic medical care while at school and mental health service support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your childβs school.
Senior Portriat Make-Ups, Retakes, and Maroon & Grey Yearbook Information
Important Information about Senior Portraits Make-Ups, Retakes, and the Maroon and Grey Yearbook
Dobyns-Bennett Maroon and Grey Yearbook
1 Tribe Way Kingsport, Tennessee 37664
(423) 378-8400
Dear Parents,
Please read the following important information for all graduating seniors:
Senior Portraits Make-Ups / Retakes (August 27th and 28th)
Senior portrait make-up days are for seniors who missed their summer appointment time with Lifetouch or those who wish to have retakes and will follow this schedule at the main campus: students must sign up for an appointment time here: DB Senior Makeup / Retake Portrait sign up
Senior portraits require wardrobe changes and are more time intensive than regular portraits. In order to allow enough time for each studentβs pictures and allow the photographers to take the best pictures possible, students need to come at their scheduled time slot.
LOCATION: Lobby of the Little Theatre
There is NO sitting fee required for senior yearbook portraits. Proofs will be delivered via studentsβ home addresses / emails with instructions on how to purchase their portraits if they so choose. Regardless, each senior needs his/her portrait taken in order to be in the yearbook.
For ease of wardrobe changes and optimal photos, Lifetouch asks girls to wear/bring a tank top and guys to wear/bring a white t-shirt. Lifetouch will do 2 poses (formal tux / drape and cap & gown). Lifetouch will provide the tux/drape and cap & gown. Due to time constraints, students will not be doing additional casual poses during the make-up session.
Seniors must be photographed to be included in any type of senior recognition (i.e. yearbook, graduation banners, awards day slideshows, etc.)
Order your childβs copy of their Senior Yearbook (Early Sale Promotion ends September 13th)
Our staff is hard at work creating a beautiful keepsake for your senior to remember this milestone year.
All yearbook sales must be made through Jostens (via website or phone). You can go ahead and reserve your copy now and guarantee the lowest price of the year, $70, as well as receive free personalized icons if you purchase by September 13th. Payment plans are available. Call 1-877-767-5217 or order your copy on the Jostens Website.
Please note that purchasing in advance is the ONLY way to reserve your childβs copy of a yearbook and ensure they receive a book.
Selecting your senior photo for the yearbook (Deadline: October 21st):
Prestige Portraits (a subsidiary of Lifetouch) should email you a session ID and access code after taking your portraits. You should be able to log in to prestigeportraits.com, view portrait proofs, and select a yearbook photo for Pose 1 (formal drape/tux). In order to be used for the yearbook, your choice must be the correct pose (formal drape/tux) and must have a blue background. Selections that do not meet this criteria will default to the photographerβs selection. Students who have trouble with this process should see Ms. Haren before or after school in room W286, email their pose selection ID numbers to rharen@k12k.com , or call 1-800-736-4775 for assistance from Lifetouch /Prestige Portraits. Changes will not be able to be made after the October 21st deadline passes.

The staff reserves the right to edit ANY content to fit needs of space, aesthetic, or appropriateness.
We retain the right to remove any explicit text, graphic photos, or copyright-protected imagery or photos.

The Truancy Attendance Process in Kingsport City Schools is as follows:
- 3 Unexcused Absences - You will receive a letter from KCS regarding absences.
