Gratitude for Your Participation in the Fiscal Year 25 Budget Work Session
Dear CCPS Families,
I would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your attendance at the Budget Work Session for Fiscal Year 25, held on Wednesday, January 24, either in person or via live stream.
We understand that the information presented during the session may have been comprehensive, and we want to express our gratitude for your commitment to being informed about the budgetary aspects that shape the future of our school district. Ensuring transparency in our communication is a priority, and your engagement contributes significantly to the collaborative spirit within our community.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification on any aspect discussed during the session. Your inquiries are valuable; we are here to provide the support and information you need.
We appreciate the ongoing support from each and every one of our families. Your dedication to the education and well-being of our students is truly commendable, and we are grateful for the sense of community that defines Cecil County Public Schools.

APGFCU Donates $7,500 Worth of Books to CCPS
APGFCU has donated $7,500 worth of books in support of financial education in the classroom; Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire - The Lemonade Escapade, Molly Bannaky, and What Are You Figuring Now?: A Story about Benjamin Banneker, by Jeri Ferris.
Danny Dollar Millionaire Extraordinaire - The Lemonade Escapade, by Ty Allan Jackson, will be used by third grade teachers to facilitate shared reading instruction to teach students the basics of finance, as well as exposing them to concepts of entrepreneurship, overcoming obstacles, and following their dreams. The unit of study will be taught in conjunction with the financial literacy social studies unit and integrate economics and reading literature state standards.
Molly Bannaky and What Are You Figuring Now: A Story about Benjamin Banneker, by Jeri Ferris, will be read as an interactive read aloud to CCPS’ 1100 fourth grade students. The unit of study will be taught in conjunction with the Maryland social studies unit and integrate economics, geography, and reading information state standards. Students will learn about opportunity cost, production, interdependence, and characteristics of places.
BEPAC Awards Mini-Grants to CCPS Staff Members
BEPAC wants to thank Northrop Grumman, ODEC Wildcat Point, and APGFCU for their financial donations to help sponsor the twenty-four mini-grants that were awarded to our CCPS staff members.
Important Information
Inclement Weather Makeup Dates
Due to schools being closed on Wednesday, January 10, and Tuesday, January 16, the inclement weather makeup dates are Wednesday, April 3, and Friday, May 24, 2024. Please mark your calendars.

Teacher of the Year Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for Cecil County’s Teacher of the Year award. This program recognizes those teachers who deliver high quality daily instruction to their students and set high
expectations for themselves, their students, and their schools. Students, colleagues, parents,
administrators, community leaders, and others are encouraged to submit the name of a quality educator who represents the best of the teaching profession.

Second Annual Multilingual Family and Community Fair
Building Healthy Families (BHF) Workshop
The Division of Health Promotion at the Cecil County Health Department is launching a no-cost Family Healthy Weight Program called Building Healthy Families with funding provided by the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities!
The workshop is scheduled to start March 07, 2024 and will be held 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursdays at the Neighborhood Community Center in Elkton.
