Family Literacy History Survey for Kindergarten through Grade 3
As part of Wisconsin's early literacy law, Act 20, districts are required to offer families of students in Kindergarten through Grade 3 who require additional literacy support a family literacy history survey. Due to the tight timelines we have to collect this information, we are offering this brief 5-question survey to all of our K-3 families at this time.
For all families with students in K-3, click here to access the survey. Families with multiple students in K-3 should fill it out for each child. Please complete the survey by January 22.
VISION & HEARING SCREEN TIME! FEBRUARY 20TH
Vision and hearing screens will take place at your child’s school in February. First graders will receive both vision and hearing screenings, and kindergarten, third and fifth graders will receive vision screening.
Your child will receive a copy of the screening results. The form will indicate if no further evaluation is needed or if follow up is recommended with a Physician, Optometrist, or Audiologist for further evaluation. Results will be documented in your child’s school health record and available to parent/guardian upon request.
If you have a child in second, fourth, and sixth grade, and feel they would benefit from a vision or hearing screen at this time, please contact your child’s school health assistant to request a vision or hearing screen for your child. If you would prefer not to have your child screened at this time, please contact your child’s school health assistant.
Hearing screening will be done on Thursday, February 20th at Prairie View Elementary.

PVMS Course Information Night
Indoor or Outdoor Recess?
Winter days are at hand, and we ask parents to see that their children are dressed as warmly as possible prior to their leaving for school. This includes a warm coat, hat, gloves or mittens, and boots. If a child will be leaving the blacktop area at recess when there is snow on the ground, snow pants and boots are required. Please remember to label all winter dress items with your child’s name. Additionally, we recommend that parents pack extra socks, gloves &/or mittens in your child’s backpack for the winter months.
Students will be going outside unless air temperature or wind chill drop below 0.
**PLEASE NOTE** All students are expected to participate in our scheduled recesses. Students will only be allowed to stay in from outdoor recess with a signed, medical excuse from their doctor.

PVES Yearbook Online Ordering
Order your yearbook for the 2024/2025 school year! Link below.
Deadline to order a yearbook is March 17, 2025
PBIS
The focus of our PBIS initiative for the month of November was empathy. As we transition into the winter months, students will be revisiting and reviewing expectations for recess, as well as guidelines for snow-related activities. This review will help ensure that all students continue to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and safety during these colder months.
Substitutes Needed and YOU Can Help!
- Have you ever thought about teaching in a classroom?
- Do you want to earn some extra money?
- Do you enjoy working with students?
It is now easier than ever to become a substitute teacher. A three-year short-term sub license is available for applicants who hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university and who have successfully completed an approved substitute training program, but has not completed a state-approved educator preparation program.
Once an educator holds a current three-year short-term substitute license, they may short-term substitute at any Wisconsin school district that employs them.
