News from the Nurse
If your child has medication in the nurse's office, a parent or guardian will need to pick it up by noon on the last day of school, Thursday, June 6th. The only medication a student can transport home in a backpack is their inhaler.
If your child will be attending Summer School and requires medication, please make sure to bring it to the summer school nurse on the first day with a current order.
Thank you so much,
Mrs. Panov
Ice Cream Truck on the Last Day of School!
On the last day of school, students and their trusted adults (parents/guardians/etc.) are invited to enjoy some ice cream by the Adler Warming House. Yay!
Plan on bringing cash or card. All students must be supervised. Transportation is not provided. All families interested in taking part in the ice cream truck must opt for parent-pick-up rather than taking the bus home.
Summer Office Hours
Adler's front office will be open through the month of June from 8:00-3:30 Monday through Thursday.
It will be closed in July and reopen in August from 7:30-3:30 daily.
Adler Welcomes Therapy Dog for 2024-2025 School Year
Mrs. Lindsay & Kaylee
Kaylee enjoying training at the park
Lots of hugs and love from Kaylee
We are excited to announce that Adler Park will be adding a new staff member at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year–a therapy dog named Kaylee! She is a therapy dog from Canines 4 Comfort who will be working with Mrs. Lindsay (Adler’s school social worker). Many local districts and schools have chosen to take on a therapy dog because of their amazing impact on kids and staff members alike. Copeland Manor school also has a therapy dog named Dante.
Therapy dogs are expertly trained dogs that partner with a facilitator working in a professional setting, such as a school. Canines 4 Comfort facility dogs are trustworthy in professional environments and can perform over 40 commands designated to motivate, inspire, and calm students with or without special needs.
Kaylee is a 2 year old Standard Poodle. Kaylee was carefully bred and expertly trained by Canines 4 Comfort specifically for this type of work, so she is not only friendly and fun, but she is also very sweet and gentle. Kaylee was provided by Canines 4 Comfort free of charge.
Below are some guidelines that are required for our school and for Kaylee:
Kaylee provides services in Mrs. Lindsay’s office in the school. She may be present for SAIG groups, individual therapy, classroom circle lessons, and more.
Kaylee is required to be properly identified at all times as a working facility dog with a scarf.
Kaylee remains with Mrs. Lindsay while on property. When not providing services, she is resting in Mrs. Lindsay’s office or Mrs. Miller’s office.
Mrs. Lindsay and Kaylee will attend weekly training and practice sessions together to ensure ongoing opportunities for growth and learning new therapeutic techniques to support our Adler Community.
Please always ask before you pet Kaylee; she loves to shake hands, but it’s important to ask first so that if she’s working with someone, she’s not distracted.
All students will learn about Kaylee at an assembly at the beginning of next school year so that they can ask questions and understand the guidelines when working with a therapy dog.
If your child is allergic to dogs or fearful of dogs, please speak to Mrs. Panov (Adler School Nurse) or Kendall Miller (building principal) to notify them of your child’s allergies and the accommodations your child requires. Field Trip Season
Kindergarten
At the Kohl Children's Museum, kindergartners worked in teams to build houses that would withstand the huffing and puffing of the big bad wolf.
1st Grade
2nd Grade
3rd Grade
3rd grade studied astronomy in CKLA and were excited to create constellations, try out telescopes, build and test a spacecraft, and see orreries (models of the solar system) from hundreds of years ago. We also got to see a movie in the dome and "traveled" to many of the planets and moons we have been studying. It was a great day at the Adler Planetarium.
4th Grade
It was a fun day at the Kenosha Civil War Museum. We saw a short movie about the Civil War that was in a 360 degree theater. After, we split into 4 different groups with tour guides to show us different artifacts from the Civil War, and explain how the Midwest was a part of this time in history. An added bonus was a quick trolley ride around town. The trolley was from 1950 and was an authentic experience for the kids.
5th Grade
5th grade had a BLAST at the Field Museum … AND we made it back on time!
