A message from the Principals Office
Hello PRMS families!
As we approach the upcoming State Forward Test, we want to take a moment to share some tips on how you can support your child to perform their best. All students grades 5-8 will test Tuesday, April 9, Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11. Our 8th grade will test 2 additional days on April 16 and 17.
Here are some simple yet impactful ways you can help set your child up for success:
Good Night's Sleep: Encourage your child to get plenty of rest leading up to the test. A well-rested mind is better equipped to focus and perform at its best.
Healthy Breakfast: Ensure your child starts the day with a nutritious breakfast. A healthy meal fuels their body and brain, helping them stay alert and attentive during the test. We understand that mornings can be busy, and if your child prefers not to eat at home, we're pleased to offer FREE breakfast at school for ALL students. This ensures that every student has access to a nutritious meal before starting their day of learning and testing.
Positive Pep Talk: Offer words of encouragement and positivity to boost your child's confidence. Remind them that you believe in their abilities and that they are capable of doing their best.
These small gestures can make a big difference in your child's mindset as they approach the test. Encouraging a positive attitude and emphasizing the value of learning and growth beyond test scores can help alleviate unnecessary stress and foster a healthier approach to academic challenges.
While the State Forward Test is significant, it's just one part of their educational experience. At our school, we cherish the diverse abilities and skills of every student. We're dedicated to supporting all students in reaching their full potential, irrespective of test scores. We believe in a holistic approach to education that values each child's unique strengths and fosters their growth in various aspects of learning and development.
Our commitment goes beyond test scores; we are dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of each child, helping them discover and cultivate their passions, interests, and potential. Our goal is to empower students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in an ever-changing world.
A couple last details:
Students will need wire headphones for the test. If your child does not have access to headphones, we do have some available for use.
We kindly request your assistance in ensuring that your child attends school regularly during the testing period. To minimize disruptions and help create a focused testing environment, we ask that you refrain from scheduling appointments for your child during the designated Forward testing dates.
By avoiding conflicting appointments, we can better support our students in performing their best on the assessment. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a smoother testing experience for all involved.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child succeed academically. Together, we can create a positive testing environment where every student feels empowered to showcase their abilities and are focused on effort, growth, and resilience.

We would like to make you aware of a “Tik Tok” challenge which has resurfaced here at PRMS. The challenge is called “Blackout/Passout/Chokeout Challenge”. Experts have warned young users not to try the trend, which was linked to more than 80 deaths back when it first emerged, per the CDC.
We are asking families to sit and have a conversation with their child(ren) about the dangers of participating in this Blackout Challenge. Here are a few talking points:
A blackout/passout does cause the slowing of oxygen to the brain, which could cause long-term effects or immediate cardiac arrest.
If you have low oxygen to the brain for over three minutes, you can get brain damage and if over five minutes it can result in death.
When you blackout/passout, you lose consciousness and don’t know how or where your body will land, causing more severe body injury.
Because of the seriousness of this game, if students are caught participating in it, they will be suspended from school.
Thank you for helping our students understand the dangers of this challenge and they should not participate in this at any time - at school, home, or in the community.
