Graduation Rehearsal
Graduation Rehearsal: Monday, May 19th at 1:30pm in the EHS Auditorium (graduates only)
- Rehearsal is required for all graduates. Those taking at AP test should meet with Dr. Sommers upon completion of their test for the missed information.
- Students will receive their graduation envelope at rehearsal. It will include cords, stoles, and other information.
- Students will receive their diploma at the end of the graduation ceremony on graduation day.
Graduation Tickets
Each student will receive 12 tickets. This year graduation tickets will be digital through Hometown Ticketing. You must download the app before you can access your tickets. Tickets will be released to your seniors through their FISD Google email on May 19th around 5:00pm after graduation rehearsal. There will be a link in this email to claim your tickets.
For those of you wondering, the Hometown Ticketing app will have the ability to transfer unused/unneeded tickets to other students who need more than the 12 allotted tickets.
All guests over 5 years of age need a ticket.
Instructions for downloading app, claiming and transferring tickets can be found HERE.
Graduation Day
Seniors:
- arrive at Emerson main gym at 2:00pm. Seniors should have all graduation regalia with them (gown, cap & tassel, stole(s), and cord(s).
- must ride the bus from Emerson to Comerica Center for the ceremony.
- are subject to a pre-ceremony inspection of their graduation regalia and apparel. See guidelines in link above for what graduates should wear.
- should NOT bring any belongings other than their cell phone with them.
- should plan to leave with their families after the ceremony, but there will be a bus returning to Emerson after the ceremony should a student need to ride it back to campus.
Post-ceremony:
The Comerica Center asks all families to wait outside the Comerica Center for their graduate. All graduates will exit through the main north entry/exit of the Comerica Center. There is a graduation ceremony after ours, so your cooperation with quickly exiting the building is appreciated.
Graduation Parking and Entry Maps
- Use these maps for information on where to park, ride share pickup/drop off, and parking at Stonebriar mall.
- Comerica’s clear bag policy
- Note – there is a Rough Riders game the same day, so note available parking areas for our graduation time on page one of the maps linked.
Graduation Seating
It is open-seating for families. Here's a couple things to consider:
- If your student is seated on side A amd you want to see their smiling face as they cross the stage, then you will want to sit on side B. Vice versa if your student is sitting on side B.
- If you would rather sit where you can see your graduate best throughout the ceremony, then you may want to sit on the same side as your graduate.
Graduates will receive an email on Monday, 5/19, after rehearsal reminding them of what side they have chosen to sit.
Here's a visual to help!
What should I wear to Graduation?
Graduation is a formal event. Please plan to wear your "Sunday best" clothes to the ceremony.
Males need to wear long pants and a dress shirt. No flip-flops or tennis shoes. No sunglasses.
Females may wear pants or a dress. No jeans or ripped apparel will be allowed. No sunglasses. Please ensure you can comfortably walk in your shoes.
Emerson supports all of our students' involvement throughout campus organizations in their years as a Maverick. However, for our graduation ceremony on 5/22, please make note of the following details:
Only EHS supplied graduation cords and stoles will be permitted to be worn on the day of the ceremony.
If you have not received a cord or stole through an EHS organization, please do not wear them to the ceremony.
No other graduation regalia will be permitted to be worn on the day of the ceremony, including cultural and or college/university representation. These other regalia are great for graduation parties, family celebrations, etc. However, they will not be allowed on 5/22 for the EHS graduation ceremony.
Caps may not be decorated on top.
Robes may not be altered in any way.
Etiquette for Graduates
This is a milestone event for you and your family and you have all worked hard to get to this point in your life. Students will be expected to respect the ceremony and each other, avoid disruptive behavior/outbursts and remain seated during the ceremony. Please pay attention to the flow of the ceremony and make sure you are ready when it is your turn to walk across the stage. Following these guidelines will allow everyone to share and enjoy a memorable and dignified graduation ceremony.
NOTE: Students' phones need to be silenced and put away in their pockets during the graduation ceremony.
