This Week at Windsor...
#WEAREWINDSOR
January 27th, 2023
Windsor Families,
We had a fun digital citizenship spirit week, students learned a lot about online safety! We also kicked off Windsor's Heart Challenge with an assembly from the America Heart Association. More information can be found about this below.
Parent Teacher Conference links will be emailed out at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31st.
Just a reminder that students cannot arrive at school prior to 8:50, they are not able to sit in the office. If your child is coming early for breakfast they should arrive no earlier than 8:45.
Be sure to scroll through this week's newsletter, it continues to have many new and important pieces of information!
To meet the ABC25 membership goal, Windsor still needs several more families to join. If you are able to, please click this link to join: abc25.org/donate.
February is Kindness month, check out the calendar below!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Bernie's Book Drive
Dear Windsor Families,
John Hersey High School NHS Students Sarah Stryker & Carly Staffa are hosting a children’s book drive to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank. We have set a goal to collect 1,500 books! With a goal of distributing books to 25,000 more children this year, they urgently need books.
Bernie’s Book Bank, a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, is the leading provider of quality books to at-risk children in the Chicagoland area. Since 2009 they have distributed more than 21 million books. They strive to provide books that children can be proud to have in their home library.
We ask that you consider donating new and gently used children’s books (birth-6 th grade reading level) during our book drive. Children’s picture books, board books, recent non-fiction and chapter books are all appreciated. Please note, Bernie’s Book Bank does not accept activity books, coloring books, dictionaries, textbooks, religious books, or foreign language books other than Spanish. Your donated books will be given new homes with children who need them. When books arrive at Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff they are sorted, stickered and packed by volunteers. Then the books are loaded onto a fleet of trucks and carefully delivered to 300,000 underserved children through 900+ distribution partners in six Chicagoland counties.
Owning quality books is critical to reading-readiness and becoming a proficient reader. Your valuable support for Bernie’s Book Bank enables these children to build a home library of quality books so they can read their way to a better life.
Please help us achieve our goal by donating gently used children’s books (birth-6 th grade). Books can be placed in the collection bins located in Windsor's office from February 1st until our drive ends on February 17th.
Sincerely,
Sarah Stryker and Carly Staffa

Stella's Station
With snow in the forecast, many students wonder why we have salt trucks on the sides of the expressway waiting for the first flakes to fall. Help them understand this mystery by doing a little Winter STEM in your kitchen. Rainy Day Mum shares an activity that helps children understand how salt lowers the freezing temperature of water, and how it melts the ice on the roads. You can find the idea here. Stay warm! ~Mrs. Stella
Staff Spotlight:
Laura Miller
I am an Occupational Therapist in SD25. I have my OT degree from Indiana University. I have been in SD 25 for 15 years but an OT for 27 years. While I have served in 7 of the 9 Arlington Heights schools, I am currently full time at Windsor. A really fun and unique part of my job is that I have the opportunity to work with many students and families from Kindergarten thru 5th grade.
In my free time, I enjoy being with family and friends. One of my favorite gifts in life is being an aunt to 8 nieces and nephews ranging from 5 to 21. I also volunteer at my church in various ways but a highlight of that volunteer work is a weekly tutoring program.
I am very grateful to be a part of the Windsor Family!
