The doors of the school open at 8:55am daily. Staff will be outside to monitor arrival at that time.

If arrival is after 9am, families will need to sign their child in through the front office.

It was great to see so many families at the Rock for our Back to School Nights. If you missed it, here are the video's presented from Dr. McDade, PWCS Superintendent and Ms. Steptoe-Coleman, Rockledge Principal.

Rockledge will participate in Red Ribbon Week, saying no to drugs, by hosting a special spirit week. See the days below.

• Tuesday, Oct 25th: Wear your favorite sports jersey or Nest shirt
• Wednesday, Oct 26th: Wear red
• Thursday, Oct 27th: Pajama Day
• Friday, Oct 28th: Storybook character day (no toy weapons or masks covering entire face)
  

With fall in full swing children have been dressing in layers. Please make sure to label all of your child's clothing layers. We already have our lost and found piling up with items. If your child is missing something remind them to stop by the lost and found.

Virginia Farm to School Week

Did you know your school cafeteria serves seasonal Virginia produce all year long? Incorporating local products into our menus gives students the opportunity to enjoy nutritious, fresh fruits and vegetables, while learning about the seasonality of foods and how foods are grown. These products support local farms and are a tasty way to improve the health of our children!

National School Lunch Week:

National School Lunch Week (NSLW) was October 11-14, 2022. This week gave the Food and Nutrition Department an opportunity to showcase the quality of our nutritious meals. Locally grown foods were served,. We are excited that healthy choices are available to students every day!

Please let the school know as soon as possible if field trip fees will be a source of difficulty for your family. All field trips are enrichment experiences that enhance student learning, so ALL students will always have an opportunity to attend.

Take the night off from cooking dinner and join the PTA at Panera. By picking up your dinner at Panera, you are supporting the Rockledge PTA earning 20% of sales.

Eagles are invited to bring one beloved adult to the school for a light breakfast. Details are as follows:

• Date/Time: Friday, October 21, 2022 from 8-9am
• Place: Blacktop, if raining Door 3 to enter the gym.
• Logistics: Each student is allowed to invite ONE adult guest

The PTA just opened the Spirit store for a short time for a second round of orders this Fall!

This is your chance to get spirit wear and show your school pride. T-shirts, sweatshirts and active shirts are available in gray or white and pink starting at $15. You may choose to ship to the school for FREE or ship to your home for $8.

We do not anticipate major delays with these orders. Delivery is approximately 3-4 weeks following the store closing (Oct 20).

The deadline to order is October 20.

Families the end of the first quarter of learning is coming to a close, at the end of October. On Monday, October 31st teachers will be scheduling family conferences. If you have not scheduled your conference, please reach out to your teacher today.

Prince William County Schools has partnered with Paper, a 24/7 academic support tutoring platform. Through Paper, our students can safely and securely chat with an expert tutor anytime, anywhere, for free.

Whether your child needs help clarifying homework questions or feedback on a written assignment, they can get on-demand and unlimited help when they need it!

Thank you, Rockledge families, for participating in our 2022/23 SchoolStore.Com online fundraiser, where our school earns money all year long.

Participation prizes (Huggers) have been awarded to students that returned their parent envelopes with a registration code. The participation prize deadline is 12/16/22.

Rockledge receives a percentage of your purchases from schoolstore.com for wrapping paper, magazines, popcorn, cookbooks and more. We also receive a percentage of purchases from 400 major merchants, like Walmart, Kohl’s, Best Buy, and Disney.

In addition to shopping online, many of you have graciously purchased gift cards for your teachers. They will be thrilled when these gift cards are distributed next week.
