**Wilbanks Middle School Principal’s Newsletter Letter to Parents**
Dear Wilbanks Middle School Families,
As we wrap up the first quarter of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on our achievements and express my gratitude for your continued support. We have had a fantastic start to the year, and I am thrilled to share that we won the attendance trophy for August! This is a wonderful accomplishment that highlights the commitment of our students and their families to prioritize school attendance.
As we move forward, I urge you to help us maintain this momentum. Attendance is vital for our students’ success, and when they are present, they are engaged in learning and building essential skills. Let's continue to work together to reinforce the importance of being in school every day.
We recently celebrated our hard work with an exciting Incentive Day to mark the end of the 9-week period. Students who earned enough LiveSchool Points enjoyed a fun day filled with games and delicious snacks. A special shout-out goes to those students who qualified for the VIP experience! They had a blast at our glow party and indulged in an amazing apple bar featuring an array of toppings to highlight the fall theme.
At Wilbanks Middle School, we truly take pride in recognizing and celebrating our students who exemplify being “Uncommon” in their attendance, behavior, and work ethic. It is their dedication and effort that makes our school community so special.
As a reminder, next week is fall break. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable time off, filled with opportunities for families to spend quality time together and recharge for the next quarter.
Thank you for your continued partnership in educating and supporting our students. Together, we can make this school year a remarkable journey for all.
Warm regards,
Chris Chitwood

The Book Club at Wilbanks Middle School is a part of the Tome Student Literacy Society (Tome Society). Tome Society serves students in grades 2-12 by providing a diverse menu of digital student competitions; an annual book award list of new, clean, fun-to-read children's and young adult literature titles; student book club activities; curriculum materials for educators; and the TomeCon annual conference for both students and educators. All activities promote self-esteem, leadership skills, character ethics, and nurture critical thinking, creativity, and imagination in the digital age.
6th-grade Wilbanks book club members had the opportunity to attend a live author event on September 17 with Alan Gratz. Mackin Publishing provided the live event to schools who wished to participate. Alan Gratz talked about his new book Heroes. This book is one of the 10 books the Tome Book Club is reading this year. Some students had the opportunity to ask questions and everyone learned a lot about Mr. Gratz and his books!
