Letter from the Principal
I hope this messages find you rested and relaxed! While there are a still a few precious days left of summer, I am excited to welcome you all back to Scarborough High School this fall and am excited to see students returning next week for the start of the Fall Sports preseason!
The Building Leadership Team has been busily working to make preparations for this fall and a huge shout out goes out to our custodial and maintenance teams and our Admin Assistants who assist in the summer work, as well as school staff who helped with our Summer Academy and Extended School Year Program, both of which provide learning opportunities to our students during the summer months.
Below you'll find some important information and events about the opening week of school as well as some resources and schedules that should prove useful as we embark on a new school year. This year, we plan to send out a monthly communication on the first Friday of each month, so this message is just intended to equip families with what's needed for the first few days of school. Please note that on Wednesday, August 28, ninth graders and new students are expected to report for our Orientation Day. On August 29, all students are expected to attend.
Best,
Nate Theriault
Principal
CTE Families and Students
This communication will contain start dates and other details and expectations regarding participation in these programs. If you or your child is enrolled in one of those programs, please be on the lookout for that message.
Chromebook/IT Equipment Distribution
Chromebooks are available for pickup throughout the week of 8/19-8/23. Our IT department is working with our Athletics and Activities Department to distribute student Chromebooks throughout the Fall Sports Preseason, however, any student may come to SHS next week for early pickup in C103.
Devices will also be distributed to ninth graders and new students on Wednesday, August 28, as part of Orientation Day and during Study Halls throughout the first few days of schools to all other students.
To receive a Chromebook, students need make sure that outstanding payments for missing or damaged IT equipment from previous school years has been paid and all forms for the 2024-25 school have been completed. Students with outstanding charges or missing or incomplete forms will not receive a device.
August 28: Ninth Grade and New Student Orientation Day
This year's Ninth Grade and New Student Orientation Day will take place on Wednesday, August 28. Breakfast will be served in the Scarborough High School Cafeteria from 7:30-8am. All ninth graders should be in the Cafeteria at 8am.
August 28: Open House
This year, the SHS Open House will occur on Wednesday, August 28, from 6:00-7:30pm. Instead of running a modified bell schedule for parents as we have in years' past, this year will be "true" Open House. SHS families are invited to drop in anytime between 6:00-7:30 to meet school staff. Additionally, for any students hoping for an extra chance to gain familiarity with the building prior to the first day with the full student body, we are also providing guided building tours. These tours will be student-led and leave Alumni Gym every 10 minutes starting at 6:05. Interested students and families can also learn more about programming, opportunities, and supports at SHS through our 10-minute talks in the All-Purpose Room and Auditorium or by attending the Activity Fair in the Cafeteria.

We hope you'll join us in making this night a success!
Senior Details
To the Class of 2025, welcome to your senior year!
There are several items of note for seniors as we approach the start of the school year. Firstly, Senior Privilege Contracts are available in Admin I. Completing these contracts is the first step in activating Senior Privileges. This process will be underway in the first few days of schools. Please check your inbox for an email from Mrs. Blaisdell for full details about the activation process and timeline.
Senior shirts are also available for pickup in Admin I. Please stop by to get your shirt if you have not done so already. In addition to wearing Senior Shirts on August 29, there are three senior traditions to be aware of on that same date: the Senior Walk, the Senior Breakfast, and the Senior class picture in Memorial Park. More details about these events will be made available as we get closer to August 29.
