The Prowler
Week of February 10-14, 2025
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
This week marks the beginning of the fourth week in the fourth six-week grading period for our RHMS students. Last week, CFAs (benchmark) tests were administered in all tested grades and subjects. After-school academic tutorials also began with a successful start and will continue for seven more weeks. These tutorials, which cover Reading Language Arts and Math for fifth through eighth grade students, are held from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Snacks are provided, and buses are available for students needing transportation home. Additionally, track students who need to attend tutorials will be transported to the high school immediately after tutoring for track practice.
Parents: Please be aware that starting the week of February 10th, there will be changes to our tutorial schedule. After-school tutorials will now only be held on Mondays and Wednesdays. These sessions offer academic support in Reading Language Arts and Math while also giving students the opportunity to fulfill the required hours outlined in House Bill 1416. Tutoring teachers have sent home permission slips and followed up with phone calls to encourage parental involvement and ensure student attendance. RHMS administration is grateful for the continued support from parents in this important effort.
As always, we encourage parents to prioritize daily school attendance. Our goal is to maintain a minimum attendance rate of 96% for the year, and we appreciate your help in reaching this goal. To motivate students, RHMS administration will offer weekly incentives to any grade level that achieves an attendance rate of 96% or higher for the week.

Happy School Counselor's Week
The RHMS Administration, staff, and students extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Angie Walls for all that you do for our students, not just during School Counselors Week, but every day. Your constant support, guidance, and compassionate listening truly make a difference in their lives. We are so grateful to have you as our counselor.
RHMS Student Leadership Program
On Thursday, February 5, 2025, the RHMS Student Leaders held their first lunch meeting with one of their "mentees." Each student leader has been paired with three mentees to guide and support. RHMS is proud to have a group of thirteen student leaders, including six boys and seven girls, who are mentoring a total of thirty-nine students. The student leaders play an important role in helping their mentees develop leadership qualities, personal growth, and academic success. The goals of the program include: 1) Building self-confidence and leadership skills, 2) Fostering positive relationships with peers and mentors, and 3) Offering social, emotional, and academic support. RHMS administration was pleased to see the groups interacting, conversing, and building meaningful relationships.

“Holding students accountable and demonstrating compassion are not incompatible notions. You can always extend grace while you provide discipline. You can always respect their dignity while you administer consequences. @SteeleThoughts
“If adults want to pursue and maintain high expectations of students, while still building a positive and trusting relationship, the ONLY way to do so is by being genuine and empathetic during every interaction. Find small ways to connect and relate. “ @messier_steve
