Rave your hands in the air for Project Graduation
TIGER/WILDCAT/JAGUAR Families of ALL CLASSES
Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools' Project Graduation 2025 is June 14, and we’re encouraging ALL families—freshman, sophomore, junior, AND senior—to electrify the night and make this celebration unforgettable for this year’s senior class!
What is Project Graduation?
It’s an all-night, neon-themed party, thrown at UNC's Student Center, honoring our CHCCS 2025 graduates with games, music, prizes, scholarships and food—all in a safe, substance-free environment.
How Can You Help 2025 Seniors Shine Bright?
Volunteer your time to help with planning or event-night logistics. We need our whole community, and ~222 volunteers for maximum illumination. Even if your kiddo isn’t graduating this year, when you donate or participate now, you’re paying it forward, ensuring the community will be there when your family is celebrating at a future commencement. The sign-up deadline is May 14, so we're more eager than ever to get volunteers committed and assigned as early as possible. Volunteer now for your favorite activity.
Donate so we can throw a rave of a lifetime. Project Graduation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, through which half of the $71k party budget goes to prizes, gift cards and SCHOLARSHIPS to our amazing seniors.
Spread the word. Share this message with friends, neighbors and local businesses across our community to show CHCCS graduates how excited we are for them. Every contribution makes a difference, and by supporting now, you're helping build a tradition your own student will enjoy one day. Together, we can create memories that glow forever.
Ready to get involved?

The Science and Research Summer Program (SRSP) of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will resume its service to local high school students this summer. We are asking for your help in identifying young people who might benefit from this kind of experience.
SRSP is a 4-week summer research day program, it runs from 6/23 to 7/18, it will give high school students hands-on research experience by working on research projects with NCCU science professors in many disciplines. The program is supported by the CREST center and PREM (NSF support) and URC center (NASA support) and is open to students the summer between their junior and senior year of high school. Students are selected from high schools in North Carolina to be involved in this summer research program. It is expected that this experience will have a positive effect on student interest in careers in science technology engineering and math disciplines.
Please share this information with your students. The application can be found on our website SRSP2025.
READ: Mr. Wasson's New YA Novel Is Coming Out April 15th!
Mr. Wasson's new young-adult novel is about to hit the shelves! You can pre-order a copy here! Congratulations, Mr. Wasson!
The following is a description of the novel:
As the grandson of a late, great action star, Lionel Honeycutt III knows all about heroics. Not that any of Grandpa’s genes were passed down to him; Lionel is solidly a Background Character in the social hierarchy of his high school. But when a fire at a pet store has Lionel cast as the brave teen who helped everyone escape, Lionel can finally live up to the family name.
Honestly, though…Lionel isn’t sure he did any saving, despite smoky security footage that shows someone who could be him ushering victims to safety. But Lionel blacked out before he even exited the store. He keeps this minor detail to himself as everyone else—from social media influencers to his longtime crush—heralds him a hero.
As Lionel's popularity grows, so does his anxiety about his sorta-lie. Between reporters wanting to interview him about the incident, catching feelings for his longtime rival, and an anonymous source who somehow knows more about the incident than Lionel would like, Lionel starts to wonder if the truth will really set him free...or cost him everything.

New: CHCCS Wireless Communication Devices Policy!
Our school district has developed a district-wide policy for students regarding cell phones and other electronic devices. Here it is:
All electronic devices are to be turned off/silenced and stored out of sight at the beginning of each class period, and they are to remain this way until the bell rings for class to be dismissed.
This applies to Flex Block as well.
Students may use the personal communication devices in the hallway during class change and during their lunch period.
Electronic devices are to be turned off/silenced and stored out of sight when students are out of class during the instructional period.
Students who continue to have their phones out during instructional time will face consequences, including having their phones confiscated. Don't forget!
