Don't plan it all. Let life surprise you a little. Julia Alvarez
If the plan doesn't work change the plan, but never the goal. Sometimes things happen in our life that we can't control, like blizzards. Those things may cause you to change your plan, but definitely shouldn't make you change your goals. Enjoy the beauty of the snow, while we adjust our plans.

making a difference
Celebrating work anniversaries this week - Robert Warner, Police Captain - 17 years; Roger Pierson, Parks Laborer - 13 years; Laura Mize, Neighborhood Service Coordinator - 5 years; Keelin Brewer, Fitness Attendant & Kellon O'Dell, Street Foreman - 2 years.
Public Works began preparing for the snowstorm weeks ago, by making sure all of the equipment was serviced & ready to go. Our orders of salt & sand were filled, our drivers practiced the routes in advance. On Saturday, the crews began pre-treating the streets to aid with melting snow & ice & transitioned to snow removal as the snow began to accumulate. They will continue to run the routes focusing first on the collector streets, residential streets next. MoDOT will clear Routes 10, 69 & 92. When the streets are cleared, we will next turn our attention to returning the equipment & supplies to ready position for a next event, & removing snow piles in the downtown as we can. Our Fire Chief, also Disaster Manager, began preparing for the snowstorm with contingency plans to quickly respond to circumstances that could occur. On Sunday night, it was still snowing, but light. The snow is about done but wind will cause snow to drift a lot. Roads will still be slick on Monday and temperatures are brutal. Roads aren't to bad once plowed. Travel with caution, if you can postpone, don't travel until conditions improve.

- New Trash Collection routes were slated to begin this week, moving from a one-day route to five-day routes. The snowstorm changed these plans, imposing an one-day delay, with routes beginning on Tuesday. As we experience travel conditions on Monday, we will keep our customers updated if further route changes are necessary.
- Reminding the public that signs posted downtown state there is no on-street parking between 2-6am. This will enable us to efficiently remove snow.

Thank you to Public Works for diligence in keeping our street drivable. The salt & plow have been down our street at least 4 times since Saturday evening. Thank you! [comment from FaceBook]
