Principal's Weekly Update
March 11th-17th
Dear Families,
The faculty and I have been working on ways to cultivate a love of reading among students and this month we will have various activities for our Reading Challenge. Our first and second grade students will be playing Reading Bingo as they challenge themselves to read more books. Grades K-4 will celebrate their favorite books by having the chance to dress as their favorite book character. Grade 5 will be having guest speakers come in to speak about how important the skill of reading is in different professions. Our older students have been spending time reading to our younger students. We have also invited various guess speakers to read to the students. We will continue to collect library card sign up sheets until Tuesday, 3/12. You can stay up to date on all these events by following us on Facebook.
At the beginning of the school year, I shared that Holy Name had been the recipient of a grant to provide math instructional coaching. This week Dr. Brian Scott will visit Holy Name and work with our teachers.
Holy Name Church will be sponsoring a breakfast and presentation on the Eucharist by Fr. Williams tomorrow in the school gym after the 8:30 Mass. Families are encouraged to attend the 8:30 Mass with a children's homily and then go to the school for the breakfast. The event is open to everyone.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place this Thursday. It will be an early release day at 11:30. We look forward to seeing all of you and continuing to build our partnership with home. Please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions. There is also no school on Friday due to teacher professional development.
Sincerely,
Megan dos Santos
Principal
