What an exciting first week of school. The hallways were buzzing with excitement and energy! It was lovely to see so many happy faces as we came together.

Staggered entry days provide students and staff with a wonderful opportunity for small groups to work together to set up the year for success.

1. Our bell rings at 8:35 am. Our staff will be outside to meet and greet families. Your child's teacher will meet students outside their grade level door. Look for the numbered balloons at your child's grade level door.
2. Families are welcome to come into the school with their child on the first day of school. Once you have dropped your child off we ask that you leave to allow your child to transition with their class.
3. Teachers will help students organize their school supplies.
4. Lunchtime: from 11:25-11:45 am K, Grade 1 & Grade 4 play outside/Grade 2 & 3 eat lunch; 11:45 am - 12:05 pm K, Grade 1 & Grade 4 eat lunch/Grade 2 & 3 play outside.
5. Dismissal is at 3 pm.

Holy Spirit has an established Digital Device Policy in addition to Elk Island Catholic Schools' new Administrative Policy Use of Personal Communication Devices (PCDs) which are aligned with the Provincial direction. For the 2024-2025 school year, you will be required to purchase or supply basic school supplies for your child, including the following: a backpack, gym attire, indoor shoes, a personal use headphone set and one-to-one technology device for grades 4. Enhancement programming costs such as field trips etc. will be posted to your PowerSchool account at the end of September. You will receive an email when fees have been posted. If these supplies cause your family financial strain please contain the office and we can help.

If the back to school costs are feeling too much you may be eligible for our fee waiver. Please read more and if applicable complete the 2024-2025 Fee Waiver Application.

All grade levels have a specific door they will use to enter and exit the school. Please refer to the map below.

Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us - If your child is absence for any reason, please use the PowerSchool website and select Enter/Review Absences, call the school 780-416-9526 or email the school at hs@eics.ab.ca to indicate that your child will be absent.

Thunder is a service dog who works with Luke, a grade 3 boy with Autism. Luke and Thunder attend our Pathways learning program in the mornings. This week all students will learn about Thunder. When Thunder is at school he is working and is not a pet. Students have been asked to keep their hands and feet to themselves so we do not distract Thunder from doing his job. If you meet Thunder outside or in the hallway please walk around him and use quiet voices.
