Principal's Message
Hello Parents and Guardians,
This is the final Parent/Guardian Newsletter for the 23-24 school year! Thank you for the tremendous support in making this an amazing school year.
We had an amazing last week of school with so many fun activities that students participated in. A special thanks goes out to our amazing Fremont PTO for their continued support of our schools.
Honor Roll certificates will be mailed home for 6th through 8th graders. Beginning next week, parents/guardians will receive update NWEA MAP scores via email.
Please note that we will begin summer hours beginning the week of June 3rd. Fremont Middle School is open from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm on Monday through Thursday and 8:00 am - 12:30 pm. Please note lunch is also taken mid-day and there may not be staff available to answer to grant access to the school.
I hope that you all have a safe and fun summer!
Emily Loerakker
Fremont Middle School Principal
TeacherEase Closes for the Summer June 7
TeacherEase will be closing at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7 in preparation for the new school year. TeacherEase will reopen in early August 2024.
Medication Pick-up Deadline: June 3
Parents and guardians are responsible for picking up any medication at the end of the school year. All medication, including inhalers and Epi-Pens, must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. on JUNE 3, 2024. Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication. MEDICATION WILL NOT BE SENT HOME ON THE BUS WITH YOUR CHILD. ANY MEDICATIONS LEFT AFTER JUNE 3 WILL BE DISPOSED OF.
If your child will be attending any summer school programs, please let the nurse know and those medications can be picked up on the last day of their summer school session.
As a reminder, new Medication Authorization Forms will need to be filled out by the child’s physician each school year. Forms can be found on the school website in the Health Services section.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter. If you have any questions, please contact the health office.
Before and After School Care: July Registration
Information regarding registration for the 2024-2025 Right at School program will be shared with families in late July. Right at School offers before and after school child care at FSD79 for Grades K-8. Please know that we will continue to offer a no-cost option for families on our early release Wednesdays.
2024-2025 Bus Routes Early August
In order to maintain our own transportation department in Fremont School District 79, we are implementing new bus routing guidance starting in the 2024-2025 school year. As a reminder of this new guidance, please see the communication that was originally shared with families on February 15. Bus route assignments for the 2024-2025 school year are expected to be communicated by August 5, 2024.
Summer Reading - 2024
The Middle School ELA Department requires all incoming 6th-8th grade students to read at least 1 book over the summer and complete a bookmark that will be turned in to their new ELA teacher.
Here is the FMS Summer Reading 2024 Slideshow that has all the directions and reading suggestions. Slide 4 includes links to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bookmarks. Bookmarks were passed out by current ELA teachers.

Summer Online Learning Access
This Summer Online Learning Access document highlights the programs that students have access to over the summer, should you wish to access them for independent summer learning. These are the same online, personalized, self-paced, student-directed programs FSD79 uses during the school year. Prior to summer break, your child’s current classroom teacher(s) will provide reminders regarding the necessary login information needed to access these tools.
Summer Repair - Student Devices
The technology team will be available to look at any broken district devices and then repair or replace the device. We will primarily help with Chromebooks, iPads, and iPad keyboards.
The team will be located in the front office of the Intermediate School on Wednesdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. We will be starting this Wednesday, June 12th, and will be doing this weekly until our last Wednesday, July 31st.
There is no need to make an appointment. Please feel free to stop by during those times. iPads and iPad keyboards can be swapped out the same day (as long as replacements are available). Chromebooks will have to be dropped off and we will contact you once the original device is back and ready to be picked up. If you are not contacted, they will be available for pickup on the first day of school for the student or else a loaner at that time will be given.
We may ask for any of the following information:
- What is the student's first and last name?
- What type of device needs to be looked at?
- Can you explain the problem you are experiencing?
- Please provide an email or phone number for us to best reach the student's parent or guardian. (If a pickup is needed)
If you have any questions or are unable to make that timeframe throughout the summer, please contact Eric Stadlman at estadlman@fsd79.org or call 847-388-3700 extension 3195. He is a part of the technology team and would be happy to assist.
