Community Update Week of Nov 4th
Sharing information for the Wootton High School community.
Commencement 2025
Dear Wootton Students, Staff, and Community,
This announcement is an exciting one! Information has been shared by MCPS regarding the tentative graduation date, time, and location. I am so excited we have these details in October. Please be sure to mark your calendars and share with relatives.
- Tentative Date: Monday, June 9, 2025
- Time: 10:00AM
- Where: DAR Constitution Hall
Considerable time, effort, and discussion went into identifying the location for graduation. I want to acknowledge that for some, this announcement will bring excitement and, yet, for others this message will be disappointing. Please know we strongly considered the results of the graduation survey collected earlier this year when submitting the request to central office about where to hold graduation. Cost is, also, a strong consideration as holding the ceremony at DAR is a more cost-effective option.
IDs for All - Week 2
IDs for All implementation started last week and will continue this week. On Wednesday (11/6), students will be required to go to the main office to receive a daily wristband if they do not bring their ID to school. The wristbands will change color by the day. There will be a grace period until Monday, November 11th where we will move to full implementation. Students should continue to bring and display IDs each day at Wootton. Students who need an ID or a replacement, can use the QR codes around the school to make this request.
Please let me express my appreciation to the students who are coming prepared each day - keep up the great work. Thanks to the security and main office teams for your help with implementing this initiative.

Attendance Is Important!
Regular daily attendance is expected. It is critical to a child's academic success. Parent/caregiver support of regular daily attendance is essential. Parents/caregivers should provide a note within 3 days stating the reason for absence. This will ensure the absence is marked excused. Students who were absent from school have the responsibility to request make-up work from their teacher.
