PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
The State of Northwestern
Dear Trojan Families,
We've reached the halfway point of the 2024-2025 school year and I'd like to take a moment to reflect on our progress and share where we stand in terms of academics, behavior, and attendance. The partnership we share with you, our most valued stakeholders, is critical to the success of our students. We are committed to excellence, and we know that when we work together, we can achieve great things.
Academic Snapshot
Fall 2024 Course Data (across all grade levels)
- Pass rate: 86% of students passed their courses (60 or above).
- Honor Roll: 35% of our students (12% made all A's).
Fall 2024 End of Course Exams (reported on school report card )
- English 2: Pass Rate % (A-D)=83.11%, Pass Rate % (A-C)=61.78% (Academic Achievement)
- Algebra I: Pass Rate % (A-D)=55.38%, Pass Rate % (A-C)=27.69% (Academic Achievement)
- Biology I: Pass Rate % (A-D)=63.05%, Pass Rate % (A-C)=44.18% (Preparing for Success)
- US History: No Fall assessment (Preparing for Success)

Fall 2024 Overall Discipline
- 44% of students received an office referral (19% higher than last Fall).
- Top 3 Offenses: 1) Tardiness 2) Cellphone violation 3) Cutting class
Attendance Snapshot
Fall 2024 Make-up School (seat-time recovery)
- 19% of students still owed Make-Up School hours after Semester 1 ended.
- 6% of students failed due to absences in one or more of their classes (unrecoverable).
- Students needing MUS average 10.82 hours - only 6 hours can be made up per class.
Truancy Report (as of January 11th 2025)
- 112 students flagged for truancy (3 consecutive full days-10 or more non-consecutive full days).
Chronic Absenteeism School Report (as of January 11th 2025)
*Students are considered chronically absent when they miss at least 10%, or 18 days, of the 180-day school year.
- NHS=14.76% of our students are chronically absent.
While we celebrate our progress, we recognize areas needing attention. With your support, we can address challenges, build on successes, and create new opportunities for our students. PARENT PORTAL
Please be sure to log in to PowerSchool to keep up with students' academic progress and attendance. The system is live, so as teachers are updating grades and attendance, you can see it immediately. You may also set up notifications for Parent Portal to contact you about your child's progress on a weekly basis, daily basis, or anytime a new grade or attendance code has been entered.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
- Students must be present for at least 60 minutes to get credit for attending class.
- Parents may submit up to three parent notes per semester or a total of 6 per school year. If your student is absent, please submit an excuse to nwabsencedocumentation@rhmail.org within three days of the absence.
