Dear Parent or Guardian,

Calallen Independent School District’s Wildcat Gifted & Talented Program for language arts, math, science and social studies begins in kindergarten and goes through twelfth grade. The program provides challenging and differentiated instruction for identified students who show high general intellectual ability and exhibit potential for creative and productive thinking.

The district utilizes a screening process to determine referral for testing for the gifted and talented program. If your child is referred for further testing, the district uses four criteria for the identification process. The student must meet the district cut-off score in two of the four criteria to be identified for the program. The four measures are:

NWEA MAP – ELAR

NWEA MAP – MATH

NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test)

If you do not receive a letter requesting permission to test your child by January 28, 2025 (based on teacher referral), but feel that your child should be tested for the Gifted & Talented Program, please contact your child’s counselor to sign a Parent Request Form for your child to be tested.

Wood River PTA wants send a special Happy Holidays to all of our parents, guardians and students.

As we move into our second semester of school, we just want to remind our students the importance of being at school each and every day.

Parents and or guardians, please label your students water bottles, lunch boxes, jackets and coats. This makes it much easier to locate the owner of lost items. We will only keep lost and found items for 1 week after we post. After that time we will donate the items.

We have lots of jackets and coats in our lost and found. Here is your chance to locate a lost item. We will donate all lost items on January 24th.
