Message from Mr. Hamacher
Dear LMS Families,
On Tuesday, April 15, LMS will begin the Indiana State-wide ILEARN Assessment. LMS will be administering the ELA assessment on April 15-16, the Math assessment on April 22-23, and the Biology assessment (for 8th graders enrolled in Biology class) on May 7-8. Testing will begin promptly each testing day at 8:50 a.m. It is imperative that students bring their iPads to school fully charged. Students must also bring wired earbuds that they will need for the assessment.
This year Liberty Middle School's Drama Club is excited to put on their first ever production! There will be two shows, both today and tomorrow at 6 pm. Tickets are $5 each and spectators will use Entrance 16 (Gym Entrance) on the west side of the building.
We will be performing two shows by Don Zolidis: a never-before-published show called "Haters" and the classic "10 Ways to Survive the End of the World". In "Haters" a student council's failed recycling program prompts them to get Taylor Swift involved, and hilarious hijinks ensue as the whole student body scrambles to collect as many cans as possible. In "10 Ways to Survive the End of the World", two narrators present a handy survival guide for surviving a slew of hilarious apocalypses, everything from a giant asteroid to evil mutant bunnies.
This year, our show is student-directed by Chesterton High School Senior Phoenix Bridegroom. Our sets have been designed by Chesterton High School sophomore Elizabeth Uehling. Backdrops were painted by LMS Drama students as well as the LMS art club. Our wooden stage piece was created by Christian Lambersie's CHS General Carpentry class. We are producing a truly student-lead and student-inspired show involving as many Duneland students as possible.
This school year has been unique for these 8th graders! Since LMS and WMS 8th graders were together at Chesterton Middle School as 7th graders last year, we have decided to combine our 8th Grade Farewell Dance with Westchester Middle School (for this year only) on May 23, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost will be $10 per student and expected attire is semi-formal. Please see the below for more information.
The LMS boys and girls track teams have begun preparing for their meets! We are proud to say that we have over 200 students on the teams! We are looking forward to an exciting season!
Respectfully,
Mike Hamacher, LMS Principal

Dear Families,
We are excited to announce that we have adopted a new form of school-to-home communication at called ParentSquare for the 2025-2026 school year. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with [school or district name]. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:
Send and receive school and class information
Share pictures and files
See calendar items
Sign up to volunteer
Schedule parent-teacher conferences
and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
All district and school, grade level and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices).
Have questions? Click the question mark in the top right corner of the desktop version or the Help tab on the app (tap the triple bar icon at the top left) to find answers to most of your questions.

A Message From Nurse Sam
As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students, we want to inform you about an important update regarding students who are injured and wearing medical devices such as walking boots, crutches, casts, slings, or splints. Effective immediately, any student with a medical device will be required to provide a doctor’s note confirming that they are cleared to participate in both gym class and recess. If a doctor advises against participation for any specified duration, the student will need to provide a subsequent note from the doctor clearing the student to resume these activities once they are healed.
This update is designed to ensure that all students can safely engage in physical activities while also considering their health and recovery. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Health Clinic. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
