Dear Families,
We are thrilled to see all of the behind the scenes work with our PTO who is keeping the Tiger Magic alive!!
We are so fortunate that all of the PTOs from our host schools have been incredibly kind and generous to our staff and students. Our children are being included in anything happening at the assigned schools. Each and every day all of our LDS classrooms are filled with smiles from all of our students who are beyond resilient and adapting beautifully.
While we realize that other schools may be sending out information about the PTO (inlcuding membership) please know that this does not apply to Laura Donovan School.
Now more than every we are hoping every family joins the LDS PTO, bridging together while we are separated. We have attached some of the upcoming events below, as well as how to join the PTO.
We cannot do it without you, so we hope you consider joining and becoming involved.
Even though we are not currently in our home school, we still are a functioning PTO with our own community events and fundraisers. Depending on the timeline of our situation, some events may not be able to happen as previously planned due to logistics. However, planning, evolving and tweaking are always in the works. Some events/fundraisers will remain in the TBD category and updates will happen as we know more.
You will continue to receive PTO information regarding events from your temporary school, as they are embracing and welcoming our tiger cubs into their community. These events, just like LDS events, are optional to attend and participate in.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Warmly,
Laura Donovan PTO Board, Mrs. Benbrook & Mrs. Rosen

Let the Sun Shine for our amazing Donovan Community...
We want to thank the numerous Donovan Families who have gone out of their way to send positive messages, generously donate, deliver beautiful little surprise care packages and tokens of love and appreciation to show you are thinking about our school! It is appreciated more than words can express.
It was also wonderful to see our Donovan community out in full force at Jersey Freeze on Monday. What a special event that brought all of the energy and good vibes that LDS always puts out.
Do you have creative ways to spread sunshine to our staff and/or students? While our family is separated, this is a special way to remind them that we are thinking of them, and always together in heart! Below is a Sign up form for the next couple of months to participate.
If the slots are filled, and you would like to do an extra date, please reach out! Never too much magic!

From our PTO
To Our LDS Families,
We are truly inspired by the resilience and unity of our community. You've chosen to show up and rise up with unwavering dedication when we received the news about our beloved school being temporarily closed. This is not where our story ends. In fact, it's just the beginning! Our school year may look a little different, and you may have some questions about the PTO and what we plan on doing during this unconventional time.
Our number one goal is to be here for our families! We have many fundraisers that benefit our children's school. Just last year, we were able to put in a new sound system due to many fundraisers that families participated in.
We want to reassure you that we are still committed to doing fundraisers this year. Coming together as a school and a community is a priority, and we're confident that with your help, we can continue to enhance our children's school experience. Like most events, they will remain in the TBD category.
Please continue to bear with us on this wild ride! We are eager to have you as part of our PTO this year and would greatly appreciate your commitment through the payment of our annual dues.
As always, we are here to support our families. We are DONOVAN STRONG!
Warmest Regards,
Laura Donovan School PTO

A message from Mr. Dickstein...
Dear Parents, The purpose of this message is to provide you with an update about the progress of the mold remediation at Laura Donovan School, as well as upcoming changes to transportation for Laura Donovan students attending Catena and Errickson (first grade, second grade, fifth grade). As mentioned at the parent meeting on Monday, September 9, 2024, a building envelope specialist was retained by the Board of Education and has collected information to begin his work in seeking to find the cause of the mold. In addition to reviewing information we provided as part of his investigation into the cause, an engineer will be present early next week to begin an onsite investigation. I have attached my presentation I followed during the parent meeting so that parents who were not able to attend can review it as well. As you are aware, the Freehold Regional High School District has been providing us support with transporting Laura Donovan students to and from school daily. We have been made aware that each Thursday morning some bus routes will be divided among other drivers, and that some vehicles may be mini buses. However, they will still have "Freehold Regional High School District" on them. This may impact students at various schools, but will not impact kindergarten students at Applegate. In an effort to provide more timely transportation in the afternoons, students at Catena and Errickson will be transported home daily on Freehold Township School District vehicles. The Transportation Department staff has created additional bus routes so that they will service individual neighborhoods rather than multiple neighborhoods. Therefore, the bus routes will be much shorter than they are currently. While it is possible that some buses may arrive to the schools later for dismissal, the shorter runs will result in students arriving home quicker and spending less time on the bus. We do believe that this will get students home earlier and expect this to be confirmed after Monday. Morning bus routes will remain the same. This new plan will be implemented on Monday, September 23, and bus information will be updated in Genesis Parent Portal by Sunday, September 22. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Donovan Parent Information Session.pdf Sincerely, Neal Dickstein
