Loker School Scoop 9-24-24
Tuesday, September 24, 2024
I hope that you had a great weekend! We are looking forward to seeing you for our Loker School Curriculum Night this Thursday evening. As a reminder, Grades 3-5 families will visit classrooms from 6:00pm-6:45pm, and grades K-2 families will visit classrooms from 7:15pm-8:00pm. In between from 6:45pm-7:15pm, please visit our specialist teachers in the cafeteria as they are excited to show their excellent work with your children. In addition, special education staff and school psychologists will be available in their offices and happy to discuss how they support our Loker scholars during the 6:45pm-7:15pm time frame.
I am pleased to announce that our two therapy dogs, Chip and Putter, will return to Loker on most Friday mornings. which will provide a special opportunity to have them to visit our school to provide support and boost morale for students and staff. The students and staff who visit Chip and Putter tend to rotate throughout the year based on need and specific circumstances that arise. Each week, only a small group of students visit Chip and Putter so it is entirely possible that many students may not even visit Chip and Putter over the course of the year. Please note that we are extremely conscious in how students are being pulled out of the classroom to minimize any possible disruption in their learning. Please complete the google form at the following link by this Friday, September 27th if you would like your child NOT to participate: 2024-25 Chip and Putter Opt-Out Form
Likewise, in the spirit of community, children who participate in guidance, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special education or speech services occasionally bring a “buddy” to their sessions with them to enhance their educational and social experience as well as provide an enjoyable learning experience for the “buddy”. This does not occur on a regular basis but does involve a “buddy” leaving the classroom for about thirty minutes for a session. We are mindful of how “buddies” are pulled out of the classroom to minimize any possible conflicts in their learning. If you would like your child to NOT be a “buddy”, please complete the following google form by Friday, September 27th: 2024-25 Loker Buddy Opt-Out Form
Have a wonderful week! Thank you for your partnership.
Sincerely,
Brian
