Have you thought about what universities, community colleges, or career preparation programs you will be applying to for after high school? Summer is the perfect time to explore and do some research.
Colleges
Colleges have information sessions, workshops, conferences, and tours that you can AND SHOULD attend. Some colleges are harder to get into and these summer programs are a great opportunity for you to get prepared for those application and make good plans. Some even grant you a scholarship to go to their school if you set up a tour and have events in the summer just for prospective students. Check out these college links and events: UW – Washington Wednesdays Set Up College Tours – LINK TO COLLEGE TOURS

Scholarships
Summer is the perfect time to research on what scholarships are out there and which ones the student is eligible for. If you research now, all you must do during the year is apply. Make a list now and add the deadlines to your calendar. Looking For Scholarships Flyer with links Example of How to Keep Track of Scholarships
Volunteer Work
Colleges, Scholarships, and Post-Secondary programs are looking for well rounded students. This means that they are looking beyond your classes and grades. Many applications will ask for your work or volunteer experience, so get some done in the summer. It frequently helps when the volunteer work aligns with a student’s career path. Check your local community centers to see if they need volunteers for community events!
