Fargo Public Schools announces the assignment of Kristi Brandt as principal of South High School. She will assume the position for the 2024-25 school year on July 1 from Dr. Todd Bertsch, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Brandt is currently the principal of Valley City High School in Valley City, N.D., where she has served since 2010. Before beginning in her current role, Brandt was an assistant principal at Fairmont Junior/Senior High School in Fairmont, Minn. from 2005-2010. She began her educational career at Yellow Medicine East Junior High School in Clarkfield, Minn., where she was a science teacher, volleyball coach, and softball coach from 1999-2004; activities director from 2003-04; and dean of students from 2003-05. She was named the North Dakota Principal of the Year in 2017.

Brandt holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Southwest Minnesota State University, and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from St. Mary’s University, Twin Cities Campus.
