Parent & Guardian Update
Windsor PreK-12, Novemeber 11, 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are thrilled to announce that the Vermont State Football Division III Champions are our own Windsor Yellowjackets! We are so happy for them and all their hard work. We are most proud of the good sportsmanship, high-fives and hugs that came at the end of the game with our opponents.
In community, as we were reminded at the championship football game today, the VPA and our school will continue to uphold standards of creating an environment in our activities and programs that promotes respect for and appreciation of racial, gender, sexual orientation, religious and ethnic differences, and is disability aware. Preventing prejudice and discrimination begins with every individual.
At Windsor School, we will continue to learn about our Anti- Racism Policy, especially in the area of helping students understand racism and the impact of its harm as we work on our personal and communal growth and actions. We appreciate all parent support in this communal growth process.
Sincerely,
Principals, Sergio Simunovic, Colleen DeSchamp, Kate Ryan
and Superintendent Christine Bourne
Panorama Social Emotional Survey
In November, students in grades 3-12 will be completing a survey regarding their social emotional well being. We are asking that all of our students in grades 3 through 12 participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. The survey will ask students to reflect on their school experience on a social and emotional level. Please see the Panorama Parent letter below.

Social Media and Mental Health:
We are happy to present It’s Complicated: Teens, Social Media, and Mental Health
with Erin Walsh
Thursday, November 16 · 7 - 8:30pm EST
Most young people say that social media helps them feel more connected to friends and provides important support during challenging times. Yet young people today also report being more stressed and anxious than ever. So what is the relationship between screen time and mental health and wellbeing? In this interactive and energizing presentation, Erin Walsh of Spark and Stitch Institute [sparkandstitchinstitute.com]will cut through conflicting information and share the latest evidence about screen time’s impact on youth. Instead of framing tech as all “good” or all “bad,” Erin will use brain science, warmth, and humor to identify key strategies that promote resilience and digital well-being.
This presentation will explore...
- What is the impact of social media and gaming on mental health?
- Is technology connecting young people or isolating them?
- Is internet, gaming or phone addiction real?
- What do kids need from parents as they navigate online risks and opportunities?
W e'll be addressing your screen time struggles with science and understanding.
