DISTRICT NEWS
Avondale Homecoming
Avondale High School's Homecoming parade and football game took place on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The community gathered for the annual parade through downtown Auburn Hills, followed by the football game against Berkley.
The Yellow Jackets had a fantastic game, defeating the Bears 49-7. The dance followed on Saturday, October 12. Thank you to all who attended, celebrated another Avondale Homecoming, and cheered on our Yellow Jackets!
Deerfield Elementary School Collects Dimes for Downs
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! To spread awareness and share acceptance, Deerfield Elementary will be collecting Dimes for Downs in support of their Students Achieving Independence and Learning Successfully (SAILS) program during the month of October.
There is a jar in the office where students and families can bring their spare dimes. The proceeds will be donated to support their awesome SAILS students' unique learning experiences.
Avondale Elementary Schools Host Annual Fun Runs
Avondale elementary schools and their PTOs have been hard at work organizing school Fun Runs! Annual fun runs help raise funds for student activities and enrichment throughout the year. They also help fund PTO opportunities that support both students and staff. Students are rewarded with spirit days, pizza parties, and more for meeting each fundraising goal.
DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month
Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition. Approximately one in every 700 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome each year. This month is a time to celebrate people with Down syndrome and make others aware of their abilities and accomplishments.
