Celebrating our 8th Graders
This is the time of year when we celebrate our amazing 8th graders as they reach the end of their middle school experience. While our staff will miss our 8th graders… this wonderful Class of 2028… we are so excited for them and all they will accomplish in high school and beyond. To celebrate our 8th graders, we have these special activities planned for them:
Thursday, June 13
Collect chromebooks and chargers from our 8th grade students during 1st and 2nd period
Locker clean out during 3rd period
8th Grade assembly during 5th period
The 8th grade assembly will celebrate all 8th graders; a few 8th graders will be nominated by their teachers for an 8th grade award
8th grade celebration in the Commons during 6th period
- SMS Booster parents will present 8th grade gifts and provide snack
- 8th grade students who purchased yearbooks will get them at this time

THANK YOU to our Booster parents who purchased 8th grade gifts for each 8th grader!!! We couldn’t do it without our Boosters!

Bobcatpalooza, June 14
Bobcatpalooza is our end of the year field day where we celebrate all of our students! Instead of going to Encore classes on June 14, each grade level will go to Bobcatpalooza where the following activities will be provided: indoor and outdoor sports/activities, time to socialize with peers, karaoke, art, computers music, and FREE snacks provided by our Booster parents. 8th grade students who purchased yearbooks will be given their yearbooks on June 13, and yearbooks will be handed out to 6th and 7th graders on June 14 to those who purchased one.

Chromebooks Collected from our 8th Grade Students
Our 8th grade students will turn in their chromebooks and chargers on Thursday, June 13. Please make sure your 8th grader brings their chromebook and charger to school on June 13 to prevent fines.
6th and 7th grade students will keep their chromebooks over the summer.
Locker Clean Out and No Backpacks/Chromebooks on June 17 & 18
Students will have cleaned out lockers by the end of the day on June 13. Backpacks and chromebooks will not be needed at school on June 17 and June 18. If a backpack is brought to school, ONLY essential items like lunch, yearbook, pens for signing yearbooks, etc should be in the backpack.
June 17 Schedule
School starts at 7:25am and students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. Lunch will be provided.

Yearbooks are on Sale for $30
To order a yearbook, students may pay in the main office or parents/guardians can pay by phone by calling our main office at 253-891-5000. Yearbooks will be handed out this week: June 13 for 8th graders; June 14 for 6th and 7th graders.
If you are not sure if you have purchased a yearbook, please contact our Main Office at 253-891-5000.
Please contact our Guidance Office at 253-891-5011 if you would like financial assistance toward the purchase of a yearbook.
Health Room Information: Pick Up Medications
If your child has medications stored in our health room, please pick up these medications by 3:00pm on June 21.
SMS Office Closes on June 21 & Need to Collect/Drop Off Items?
Our office will be open from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm on June 20 & 21. Our office is closed on June 19 for Juneteenth. Our office will be closed beginning June 24 through mid-August. If your child is missing the last few days of school and you need to collect items (ex: purchased yearbook, 8th grade Gift Pack) or you need to turn in library books, please do so during these hours. If you are unable to make it to SMS during these times, call our main office at 253-891-5000 and we will find a mutually agreeable time to connect.
