West Fork High School Safety & Security
August 2023
Dear West Fork Parent or Guardian,
This notice is to inform you of a few policies from the NCISD Student Code of Conduct and safety protocols that help us maintain a safe school environment. It is important to review these expectations with your child prior to the start of school.
VAPE FREE ZONE
West Fork High School is a vape free, tobacco free and drug free zone. Vape devices are used with tobacco, THC, and other liquid variants that closely align to illegal substances. All of these products are strictly prohibited. Any student caught in possession of any type of vaping device will be placed at DAEP for a 30-day placement period.
THC Vaping is subject to a mandatory removal from West Fork to an alternative setting.
Cell Phones📱 & Headphones🎧
Cell phones must remain off or silenced. Cell phones and headphones must be stored in backpacks and placed in the area designated by the teacher when entering the classroom. Cell phones use is prohibited during the instructional day except for before/after school, during lunch and passing periods. Teachers may collect the items and turn them into the principal’s office. Confiscated cell phones may be picked up from the AP's by the parent once a fee of $15 is paid.
The use of cell phones or any device capable of capturing images is strictly prohibited in locker rooms or restroom areas. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost, or stolen cell phones. In limited circumstances and in accordance with the law, a student’s cell phone may be searched by authorized personnel [See Searches and policy FNF for more information].
Student ID’s
Students must wear their ID at all times during the school day. Temporary or replacement ID’s may be purchased at the front office for a fee.
Doors
There are only two designated areas to enter the building. The front door and the doors at the bus ramp. Students should never prop a door open or open a door for someone to gain entry. Leaving a door unsecured or allowing unauthorized access to any person is a considered a breach of security and will result in a DAEP placement. Anyone who needs to enter has a key or should enter at front lobby. Students and visitors are required to enter the building through the front door and check in with the office staff after 7:15 am.
Fighting
Physical aggression; threatening or intimidating conduct; or other kinds of aggressive conduct will not be tolerated while at school or at a school-related or school-sponsored event. Students who engage in such conduct will be subject to disciplinary action. Any one or combination of consequences may be used: suspension, removal from the regular education setting, loss of privileges, exclusion from extracurricular activities and a referral to law enforcement. Students are expected to show self-control by resolving issues with peers in an appropriate manner or seeking a trusted adult to help resolve conflicts.
Capturing unauthorized images🤳🏼
Use of a device to record images that disrupt the normal school environment is strictly prohibited. Recording unauthorized images, images that disrupt the school or capturing images that promote violence is prohibited and students will be subject to discipline according to the NCISD Code of Conduct.
Deliveries
Deliveries for students may not be made by any business or individual other than the parent/guardian or emergency contact listed in Skyward Family Access. (Food delivery services are not authorized to deliver food during the school day)
Safe School Reporting
West Fork is committed to a safe and secure school so that students have the best environment for learning.
