Office Doors

The front double doors are unlocked and you can enter into the vestibule. Then look for the silver box to the right of the office door and push the round button. A secretary will speak on the intercom and allow entry.

Absences

To report an absence:

• Option 1: Call the main office at 503-356-2510 and press 1 to leave a voicemail message.
• Option 2: Submit the absence in ParentVue by 8:00am (it will not accept it after 8:00am).
• Option 3: New to West TV this year! Submit the absence on the West TV school website.

Going Home Plan Changes

• Report all going home plan changes only to the office (please do not email your child’s teacher with a change in going home plans). The information will be forwarded to teachers by the office staff.

West TV Staff Leaving

We have several West TV staff retiring this year: Krasi Nikolov (Music), Amy Corris (5th grade teacher) and Sue Barry (Cafeteria). We also have several staff that will be working at other schools in the district next year: Katie Hoffman (3rd grade teacher), Megan Brock (1st grade teacher), Erin Landeros (ESL teacher), and Poppy Levin (Psychologist). Peyton Matthews (2nd grade teacher) is relocating to Washington State and our student teacher Sapph LeClaire (Resource Room) has completed her teaching licensure program. We will miss them all!

This summer I'm looking forward to having my daughter Rachel visit from Los Angeles, California and also spending time with my parents that live in Corvallis, Oregon - they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary!

Each year the PTC awards a scholarship to a graduating high school senior West TV alum.

This year the award recipient is Ellie Talus. Ellie attended the PTC meeting yesterday evening - she received a certificate and $1,500!

Ellie will be attending OSU in the fall and will be majoring in Education.

• Jillian Wang - A big shout out to Jillian! She established the Bottle Drop program for this and future West TV 5th graders. The Bottle Drop program helped us reach our goal without a need to request additional funds from parents! She also arranged everything with Kingpins and worked with Boos to reserve our bus transportation.
• Eden Ferrer, Kira Kvamme and Erik Sorensen - Painting, refinishing, and working with students for the creation of the individual stars they created that are adhered to the sides of an existing library bookcase for the 5th Grade Gift to the school.
• Kris Wentz-Graff and Heather Sorensen - 5th grade slideshow
• Kris Wentz-Graff - Yearbook design, ordering and coordination for 5th graders to ensure everyone gets one!
• Heather Sorensen - 5th Grade Clap Out music (Beaverton High School) and overall planning/communication.
• Liz Hamilton and Heather Sorensen - Secure special goodies for the goodie bags.
• Jenifer Greer - She took our 5th grade photo TWICE and worked Photoshop magic to make sure all students are accounted for in the group photo!
• Jill Bushman and Sarah Hopkins - Securing the treats for the upcoming kickball game
• Caroline Matthews/Kira Kvamme/Jillian Wang - Point people for our kickball/outdoor game activities

To increase safety in our schools, the district will be transitioning to a new volunteer management system over the summer. All volunteers — regardless of when they were last cleared — will be required to resubmit an application. Please keep an eye out for a ParentSquare message this summer with more information.

All elementary schools in the district will be receiving new iPads for students in grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd. The new iPads no longer have the standard headphone jack - they will require headphones with a USB-C adapter. Students can continue to use the headphones you purchased this year again next year if you purchase a USB-C adapter for them.

Believe it or not, as the spring weather arrives (and we reach for allergy meds) it’s time to think about ordering school supplies for next year. Make it easy on yourself and take advantage of West TV’s partnership with EPI to deliver teacher-approved, pre-packaged supplies to your child’s classroom this fall.

Supplies will be bundled and shipped directly to West TV for distribution to your child’s classroom before the first day of class.
