A Message from Board Member Tanya Ortiz Franklin

Dear BD7 community,

I’m proud to share our collective Board District 7 achievements for the 2022-23 school year. These milestones represent the efforts of students, families, educators, staff, and community members working towards educational justice, true collaboration and joy. Given yesterday’s Supreme Court decision against affirmative action in higher education admissions (indeed affirming a preference for historically privileged groups of students over historically underrepresented groups of students), it remains important to highlight the progress we are making in LA Unified and in particular, South LA and the Harbor Area.

Thank you for your leadership. Let’s keep it going in 2023-24!
