PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear St. Catherine Community,
As we welcome the lovely month of May, our school continues to thrive with activities that enrich both our faith and our community spirit. This month, we look forward to celebrating many special occasions and introducing exciting new initiatives.
May - A Month of Faith and Devotion
May is a month our Catholic faith sets aside to honor Mary, Mother of God. May 31st at 9:30am we will have a celebration in honor of Mary. This day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating Mary's role in our faith and lives. Throughout the month our classes will participate in a series of activities and prayers, expressing our devotion and respect for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
New Additions and Club Activities
This month, we are excited to announce the opening of our new Ga Ga Ball pit! This addition to our playground offers a fun, energetic way for students to engage in physical activity during recess and after-school hours.
Additionally, our Musical Theatre Club is starting up, we are so excited for this opportunity! Details will be announced soon, and we encourage everyone to come and support our budding performers.

LEARNING OUR SCHOOL
1A - Ms. Pike
First-grade students eagerly delved into vertical surface math activities, honing their ability to reach the sum of 100 through diverse approaches. We extend our gratitude to Alicia Burdess, a district coach, for her invaluable introductory lesson.
1B - Mrs. Bollinger
Grade 1B is bursting with excitement as they welcome spring! They've been diving into history to prepare for a visit to the Beaverlodge Centennial Museum, exploring movement in Phys Ed, and playing Siturtaq (Monkey Dance), an Inuit game that's a hit. Bowling at HJ's Bowling Centre was a memorable experience, and in math, they're mastering fractions and halving and continuing to practice their adding and subtracting. Their progress in reading is impressive, showing just how far they've come this year!
1C - Ms. K
We are excited to share some highlights from the past month from our Grade 1C students!
In 1C, students have been actively exploring new ways to pray, which has been a beautiful and enriching experience for them.
Our recent field trip to the bowling alley was a striking success! This was a fantastic opportunity for the students to bond and have fun together.
The students had a blast while sharpening their math skills through learning how to play a variety of card games with their buddies. It was a fun and educational time for all!
In the art corner, our budding artists experimented with various art mediums, unleashing their creativity and imagination.
The highlight of the month was undoubtedly the special visit from adorable ducklings that hatched in another classroom. The students were overjoyed!
As we celebrated Earth Day, the students engaged in hands-on activities that highlighted the importance of caring for our planet and being mindful of our environment.
We are so proud of the growth and achievements of our Grade 1C students! We cannot wait to see what the future holds for these bright young minds!
1D - Mrs. Reber
Mrs. Reber's class had a special visit from Mrs. Snoble! They participated in a very fun cross curricular lesson all focused on popcorn!
