Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Students,
Happy Sunday!
We had quite a week here at "The Ranch" last week! We had ASVAB testing on Monday, a field trip to MSJC on Tuesday, and we had our big culture festival on Thursday! There's always a lot going on at Rancho -- and we're happy that our students can not only be involved with academics, but also have some fun along the way!
This coming week marks the end of quarter 3!! The quarter ends this Friday, March 14th. SO...anything that's going to happen in terms of grades needs to happen this week! Please encourage your students to come to school and finish whatever is possible to finish! Any credits is better than no credits!
March Early Grads
Mrs. Rice, our Counselor, has sent home emails and letters (sent through US Mail) to students who have been contemplating graduating this week. The letters spell out whether students are on track to graduate this week or not. Only about 50 or so emails & letters were sent out and it only applied to those students who had expressed an interest in graduating this week. If you have any questions about the email/letter you received please contact Mrs. Rice.
For students who do qualify to graduate/finish up on March 14th, the day to get all the graduation details done at school is Tuesday, March 18th. We'll be having our "Senior Check Out Day" for those seniors starting around 9am on 3/18. It will mostly center around the library and the Counseling office!
Have a great week--and let's finish strong in Quarter 3!!!
Sincerely,
David Schlottman
Principal
Info about the FAFSA
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) priority deadline has been extended to April 2nd. As spring break is from March 24th to April 4th, we encourage all families to start the process as soon as possible.
Common Concerns/Questions Answered
Grants vs. Loans: Completing the FAFSA can qualify students for grants (free money that does not need to be repaid) and loans (which must be repaid)
Completing the FAFSA does not force you to accept any of the financial aid, it only helps you understand what your child is eligible to receive
Parent & Student Portions: The parent(s) AND student need to complete their portions for it to be fully submitted
ALL contributors need their own studentaid.gov account
Only the student section is needed if the student is independent
Is my student dependent or independent? Check here: Federal Student Aid Dependency Status
Trade/Vocational Schools: Many trade schools qualify
Community Colleges: They are less expensive but NOT free
If you need assistance, you can schedule an appointment with Rancho Vista High’s College Success Coaches:

I've noticed that for some readers unless this newsletter is opened as a webpage some of the links don't work! Here's a link to the "Community Service" log!
ALSO: some students have been asking if they can graduate (get their diploma and attend the graduation ceremony) without completing the 30 hours. The answer is no! Students must complete the 30 hours in order to be considered a graduate in our district!

TVUSD Educational Partner Surveys
TVUSD wants to hear from you!
TVUSD is committed to involving our educational partners (students, parents, staff, and community members) in planning for future years. There are two separate survey links to complete this year, and both are available in Spanish. The surveys are anonymous and will be a valuable source of information as we continue to develop and update student-centered instructional practices and fiscal budgets. District and staff leaders will have access to aggregate data from all staff/parents. Please take a moment to provide your feedback. Both surveys will be available through Friday, March 21st. We thank you in advance for your time.
RVHS WEB STORE IS OPEN
Welcome to our TVUSD Web Store! To get started... 1. Create an account. 2. Add your student(s) to your account under "My Family". 3. Begin shopping for products. Note: Student ID#'s are located on the student's Infinite Campus page. Drop any leading 00's in the student ID.

Mission Hope: Food Assistance
We understand that unexpected challenges, such as job loss or other financial hardships, can create food insecurities for families, especially during this time.
If your household is in need of food assistance, we encourage you to use the link immediately below to request support from our local food pantry, Mission Hope.
https://forms.gle/dwkV6LwSpSmCa8k58
Through this partnership, we can discreetly send a backpack filled with non-perishable food items home with your student.
Please know that all information submitted to Mission Hope remains confidential and will not be shared with the school or anyone outside of Mission Hope. We will only receive notification of which student needs a backpack. Our goal is to support our students and families in any way we can.
If you have any questions, would like further information, or need help with the application, please contact Ms. Julia at (951) 695-7320 ext. 24018; jcarrillo@tvusd.us.
Mission Hope: Necesidades Alimentarias
24018; jcarrillo@tvusd.us.

Prom, Knott's Berry Farm, and Graduation Info
Here is some important information about qualifications to attend the prom at TVHS and the RVHS senior trip to Knott's Berry Farm. Also included is a graphic about info (coming soon!) about caps and gowns for graduation.
Graduation day is: Friday, June 6, 2025, at Great Oak High School Stadium
We've also shared all of this information with our students!
EBike Safety Guidelines
We know that a lot of our students ride a bike or ebike to school!
Please check out the NEW SAFETY GUIDELINES put out by our district office in coordination with local law enforcement. If your student is riding a bike to school this is a must read! There are different laws for each type of bike. Check out those rules linked above.
And, regardless of the type of bike, please know that all students under 18 MUST WEAR A HELMET! That's a good starting point for safety while on a bike! Please review the link above and talk with your student about safe biking to school!
Place Your ID Card 2-3 Inches from the Video Doorbell Camera--AND HOLD!
Video Doorbell
Tips to Using the Video Doorbell
a) hold your ID card 2-3 inches from the screen
b) hold it steady so we can see it
c) Remember that there's a time lag...Hold the card there until you hear us buzz you in!
REMINDER ALL STUDENTS NEED A SCHOOL ID
Students PLEASE take a picture of your Student ID with your cell phone!
This is so you will always have a copy in case you forget to bring it!
Students: If you come to the front door of the school and don't have a school ID, we'll be asking for you to get one as soon as you enter the school! It only takes a few minutes!! That will make it easier each time you need to be "buzzed in" through the video doorbell system!
FOOD DELIVERY
Students may NOT order food to be delivered to school through Grub Hub, Door Dash, Uber Eats or any food delivery. If a parent brings food in, it can only be for their student and it must be left with the front office and the student may pick it up during lunch time only.
Attendance Matters
Report Your Student's Absence To:
951-294-6302 or email cavalos@tvusd.us
Have a student that is having difficulty attending school? Would you like to talk with someone about that? Please speak with Julia Carrillo, our Student Support Specialist (pictured at left) by calling the main office number and asking to be transferred to her. Or, you can email her at jcarrillo@tvusd.us.
