LMS Tiger Talk
January 10, 2025
Principal's Message
Good morning -
Despite a short week at school, it was great to welcome back our students and staff from winter break. While Mother Nature waited for us to return to school to bring the snow, we appreciate everyone's understanding as we navigate the conditions this week to keep our kids and staff safe. I know we're all hoping for some normalcy and getting back into routines next week!
Due to the snow days this week, we've had to make some adjustments with our schedule and upcoming events. Changes are as follows:
- Math MAP Testing: Will now take place on Mon, 1/13. This was originally scheduled for today (1/10).
- Scene 7th Tickets: For those students eligible to attend the Tiger Up! Scene 75 trip happening in a few weeks, we are extending ticket sales through Tues, 1/14. No tickets will be sold past this date so please get your $21 (check made out to LMS or exact cash) in Monday or Tuesday! More details can be found below.
- LMS Spelling Bee: The Classroom Spelling Bee will now take place on Tues, 1/21 with the School Spelling Bee moving to Fri, 1/31.
2nd quarter report cards can now be accessed through TigerParent.me. If you have any issues accessing your child's report card, please let us know.
We hope our students enjoy their 3-day weekend. Stay safe out there, everyone!
Take care,
David Knapp
LMS Principal

College Credit Plus (CCP) Program
The Ohio Department of Higher Education established the College Credit Plus (CCP) program to enhance students' college and career readiness and postsecondary options. The CCP program enables college-ready 7-12 grade students who qualify for college admission to take college-level courses. Students may earn both high school and transcripted college credit upon successful completion of coursework. If you are interested in learning more about CCP, please come and join the LHS counselors for the annual CCP meeting on January 29, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the LHS Auditorium. We strongly encourage students to attend this event. There will be a brief overview of the program as well as tables set up with many of the local colleges being represented. The college representatives will be able to share their college-specific information. If you are unable to attend the meeting, there will be a presentation posted on the LHS College Credit Plus Google Site.
LMS SEALS
Loveland Middle School is pleased to offer support to our students who have experienced the death of a parent/guardian or sibling through a group called Students Experiencing a Loss (SEALS). SEALS meets once a month during the school day for 30-45 minutes to provide students with the opportunity to discuss their experience(s) with peers who have had similar experiences. This year, it will be facilitated by Kim Shafer (School Counselor) and Dani Tobergte (School Psychologist).
Students will meet in a confidential group setting to participate in various activities and discussions chosen to enhance their knowledge of the grief process, encourage healthy grieving, and build relationships between members to extend support networks. This group is not a therapeutic group. It is a support group to help the students better understand their grief and is not meant to take the place of any individual professional counseling that a student may need.
If your student has experienced the death of a parent/guardian or sibling and would like to participate in the SEALS group this year or if you would like to learn more about the group, please reach out to Kim Shafer at shaferki@lovelandschools.org or Dani Tobergte tobergda@lovelandschools.org.
Science and Innovation Expo
This year Loveland will be hosting our first ever Science and Innovation Expo! The event will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm at Loveland High School. This day is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the amazing learning that happens around Loveland! The Science and Innovation Expo is a one-day event that incorporates two pathways for students to pick from, a Science Expo and an Innovation Expo.
For more information about each pathway, click here to watch a video, or read the brief description below:
Here is more information about each pathway:
- The Science Expo is a traditional science fair where students have the opportunity to conduct a scientific research project or engineering design project, and present their findings to their peers and community judges, with the opportunity to qualify for Regional Science Day at University of Cincinnati, called the Science and Engineering Expo. If students achieve well at UC, they have the opportunity to qualify for State Science Day at Ohio State University. This pathway is open to students in grades 5-12, and students can present individually or up to groups of three.
- The Innovation Expo is an open-ended opportunity for students to identify a problem and solve it with something they will create, or to simply create and share something creative, inventive, or innovative. Some ideas may be a DIY craft, coding/computer science project, an engineering creation, or anything else in which your child creates something to share! This pathway is open to all students grades PreK-12, and community judges will provide informal feedback about strengths of each project, as well as areas to grow. Students can participate individually or up to groups of three.
To learn more details about the event, how to submit a project, project ideas, and project requirements, visit Loveland's website at https://lovelandschools.org/expo
For any questions, please reach out to innovation@lovelandschools.org. We hope to see you on February 1st!
