Hello Barrister Families,

We have survived the first few days of the heatwave. To combat the heat we opened the auditorium for students to eat and escape the heat during lunch. The AC has been working well in there.

A few classes were moved to other rooms when ACs failed. LAUSD's HVAC unit serviced 10 AC units on campus this week. They continue to monitor the units and will respond to new service calls.

We also limited or suspended outdoor activity depending on the time and heat index. Athletics canceled or rescheduled games.

The heatwave is expected to last until early next week. Our team will continue to address issues as they arise to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The students were in good, but hot, spirits.

Our first association meeting will be September 25th at 6pm in the Oral Arts Room.

In the meantime, get to know your PTSA board at our inaugural Fall Social this coming Monday, September 9th from 6-8pm. All are welcome (yes, kids too!). Meet us on the patio of local restaurant Edendale (2838 Rowena Avenue). Stop by to hear about our plans and share your ideas. If you can attend, please send a quick email to communications@marshallhighptsa.org so we can give them a rough headcount. We hope to see you there!

The meeting will be held in the Staff Cafeteria. Enter the school through the pedestrian gate next to the auditorium.

Marshall's Homecoming Game against traditional rival, Belmont HS, is next Friday, September 13. The Marshall parent and student entrance will be through the M Gate. All students require a student ID. I will send a separate message next week with more information.
