Words with Miss Renee
Last week I had the privilege of having a student job shadow me because she hopes to one day also be a librarian. When her friend came into the children's room and asked what she was doing, she said, "I'm practicing being a librarian! It's great!" Her friend said, "Oh, guess what? I want to be a librarian too!" Well, you may have guessed it. My face hurt from smiling the rest of the day. In a world that can often feel gloomy, fear not! Kids still want to be librarians!
Be sure to come in and get your September Dairy Queen bookmark! Read 5 books this month, return your bookmark to the children's reference desk, and we'll give you a coupon for a free cone at our Danville Dairy Queen!
Finally, I was thinking about how fun it is to have a reading buddy. You know, the person you call after you finish a great book and just HAVE to talk about it with someone? That's my sister, Nicole. This picture was from a day last spring when we had a "day of reading." I drove to her town and we went the library, independent bookstore, and loaded up on coffee to read the day away together. It's never too soon to encourage your kids to find a reading buddy to encourage reading as a hobby worth sharing!
Yours in literacy and in life,
