OLVCS Updates
March 26, 2024
Dear OLVCS Parents and Friends,
Have you seen the commercial with Coach K? The commercial is for the Army, but a quote in it can somewhat apply to us at OLVCS. Coach K states “When you wear a uniform you are a part of something bigger” We are not joining the army and representing our country, but we are a part of something bigger. As mentioned in December, the uniform is an expression of our faith, sets the tone for the day, and is an equalizer. (all students look the same, there is not a comparison game in regards to what is worn)
Now is the time to check your child’s uniform. We are moving up shorts/no leggings start day to April 2nd. (next week) Students may wear shorts, girls do not have to wear their leggings. See below for some basic requirements.
Over the break, please take a look at your child’s uniform, perhaps have them try it on, and then make necessary purchases to bring them into compliance.
We will have a used uniform sale in April. If purchasing new pieces of clothing presents a financial burden, please let us know, we can help with the purchase. Please place your receipt in an envelope with your name and send it to school for reimbursement.
Finally, a few items to scroll below and read more details:
30th & 60th Anniversary celebration for the OLVCS (preschool and school)
April 8th early dismissal.
I hope you have a restful and JOYFUL Easter.
Make you day, and Easter Break, a great one!
Samantha

April 8th Early Dismissal (Solar Eclipse)
Early Dismissal Procedure For Parent Pick-up April 8th:
For parent pick-up during an early dismissal to run smoothly and without heavy traffic congestion, we must operate it very similarly to our daily parent pick-up.
We have assigned two pickup groups/times to avoid congestion.
12:15 - A-L
12:30 M-Z
Please arrive at the rear parking lot off of Saxton Drive at the assigned time.
Families are assigned alphabetically by the first letter of their child's last name.
It is imperative that you arrive at your assigned time.
If you arrive prior to your assigned time, your child will not yet be in the Parent Pick-up area
Middle school students will be dismissed during both waves based on their assigned time.
For those families who utilize parent pick-up daily, you may find that your assigned group is different from that of a regular school day, so please pay extra attention to the time slot.
If you have students in the preschool and K-8 follow the below instructions and ignore the previous ones.
Regardless of the first letter of your last name, if you have children in both K-8 and the preschool.
Please go to the preschool pick-up line first at 11:40 for a noon dismissal.
It is the same entrance as you use for preschool drop off in the morning.
Once you pick up your preschooler you will exit the lot and enter the K-8 pick-up line off of Saxton Dr.
Again, regardless of the first letter of your last name, if you fall into this group please use the first wave (12:15) for K-8 Pick-up after you pick-up your preschooler.
Also, please take a moment to review your Early Dismissal Plan in 'School Admin'. If you would like to make a change, please email Mary Cawley, cawleym@olvcs.org, as soon as possible. The instructions that are listed in School Admin is what Mary will follow for early dismissals.

Important EITC Information
EITC is an important source of tuition assistance for our school. Please read the information below.
Please contact your state representative and tell them to oppose House Bill 2063!! PA Representative Joe Ciresi--a Democrat from Montgomery County (Representing Pottsgrove, Pottstown & Spring-Ford)--has introduced legislation (HB 2063) that would end the EITC & OSTC programs as we know them. Representative Ciresi’s bill can only be regarded as a significant attack on the freedom of parental choice in education in PA. WHAT THE BILL WOULD DO:
