TRIUMPH FIELD TRIP TO HARD'ACK POOL AND PLAYGROUND
Team Triumph lucked out with perfect weather for a pool and playground trip to the Hard'ack Recreation center. Sunny skies, hot temperatures and having the place all to themselves resulted in plenty of fun and joy. Ms. Dufresne kindly took some great pictures to share with us.
SIXTH GRADE BIKE TRIP
The 33 students and variety of staff members on this annual biking pilgrimage to the Abbey on the Rail trail had a really good time (Thursday, June 6th). They passed through country fields, rolling tree-covered valleys, and over a beautiful refurbished rail-road bridge crossing the Missisquoi River before arriving at the Abbey Restaurant. From there, they walked down a steep driveway to a new picnic area next to the river the Abbey shares for occasions like this one. Most of the students stayed there until 1:30 pm when a bus returned them to school. At 12:15 pm four students rode back to school from the Abbey with several adults, arriving back by 1:45 PM. The rain held off and all was good.

EVENTS, OPPORTUNITIES OR INFORMATION
SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM - ALL CHILDREN ELIGIBLE - details below.
Maple Run is thrilled to introduce our complimentary summer meal program, a collaborative effort with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This remarkable initiative aims to provide nourishing meals to every child and teenager in our community, aged 18 and under, throughout the summer break when schools are closed.
Parents, guardians, and children can conveniently pick up free meal boxes at St Albans City School on Tuesdays. Each box contains meals for seven days, including breakfast and lunch. These meal boxes are available to all families with children under 18 in our community. We welcome everyone; no proof of eligibility is required, and no one will be turned away. All meals are intended to be consumed by children aged 18 and under.
If you are interested, please email us every Friday by noon if you plan on picking up a box. Please note unfortunately we cannot hold boxes. For more information, feel free to reach out to 802-527-0565 dstevens@maplerun.org.
FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
June 14th, 10:00 am
Mt. Calvary Cemetery
Team USA in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will be co-hosting a flag retirement ceremony. We have numerous boxes of old flags that have been prepared by students for a proper retirement. This is a solemn and dignified event. Ceremonies to retire a flag can differ from each other. The short ceremony will include a few words shared by the veterans, pledge of allegiance, taps, and an honor guard with a three rifle volley. The rifles will be fired as a part of the ceremony. There will be a fire onsite to dispose of the flags. The ashes will be buried the following day.
Example of a ceremony - https://youtu.be/tdHXR0PYCuY
Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at Team USA.
