The Eagle's Nest
September 6, 2024
Hello Walsh Families,
Well it's Fall. The leaves put on their bright colors, the mornings start to get a little cooler and crisper, and when you ask your child to put on their jacket, they can't find it because it's here at school in the lost and found or in their locker with the other four jackets that you have given them recently!!! Please check our Lost and Found if your child is missing an item.
As we head into November, we will have our fall conferences. If you would like a virtual conference, contact your child’s teacher(s) directly. It is important that you meet with your child's teacher to discuss grade level progress, as well as what you can do to support your child at home.
Please read below about how we will be celebrating Halloween at Walsh on Thursday, October 31.
Enjoy the weekend!
Ms. Smith

Walsh Halloween ~ Thursday, October 31, 2024
Walsh students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. Please have your child come to school in their costume and with any makeup applied.
Your child’s safety is our first concern. We ask that you guide their selection of costumes and accessories in a manner that will allow them to comfortably work and learn throughout the day. If your child decides not to wear a costume, they can wear a school appropriate Halloween themed shirt (one that does not encourage violence).
Any items/costumes that encourage violence are inappropriate for children at school. Therefore, students will not be allowed to bring toy guns, swords, pitchforks, or other toy weapons.
Students may bring treats (at their teacher's discretion). All treats and snacks must be store bought and prepackaged in individual servings. No homemade treats or snacks are allowed at school. Treats and snacks may not require refrigeration and must have a clearly printed list of ingredients on the packaging. We strongly encourage you to select a treat or snack with nutritional value.
No products containing peanuts or tree nuts are allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to an enjoyable day!
PBIS "Haunted Hallways"
On Halloween, the Walsh PBIS Team will host "Haunted Hallways". This is an earned PBIS Reward for students that have consistently been Respectful, Responsible, Safe and Kind.
Students that have behavioral referrals for not following directions will be excluded from the "Haunted Hallways" event. However, they may participate in any classroom parties or activities that day.
We will continue to have monthly PBIS events to reward positive behavior. We will have a target behavior each month to focus on. Only students who do not receive referrals for the targeted behavior will be included in the event each month.

Mrs. McRae and Ms. Lemick's 3rd Grade
Mrs. McRae and Ms. Lemick's third grade created models of the animals they have been learning about during ELA. Students had to pick an animal that has an adaptation of camouflage that helps them survive in their habitat. Then, they created the habitat and added the animal to blend in with its surroundings.
Fire Prevention Week
Walsh staff and students had a fire drill for Fire Prevention Week. They also had an assembly by the Summit Fire Department on Fire Safety. We were so happy to meet Lola, the Fire Department puppy!
