Message from Mrs. Rodriguez - Your Simpson Principal
Dear Simpson Seahawk Family,
This week Simpson will be celebrating Latino Heritage Month with our Spirit Week put together by our 5th Grade Student Council and Teachers! Our Student Council will be doing daily announcements sharing facts about Latinos that have made an impact in the past and present. We also have our Spirit Week that we hope our Seahawks will be engaged in. This Friday is our Seahawk Rally, we will have some of our students performing dances from Mexico and we will learn about the culture and traditions of Mexico, please join us! During the week we will have activities that will engage our students to learn about other Latin American countries that are also being celebrated during Latino Heritage Month! Please review the daily spirit days so that your child can participate!
Thank you to all of the Seahawk Families that participated in our Pacific Fundraiser! We appreciate your support. Your support will help us pay for field trips for our students! I also want to thank our PTA for a wonderful movie night in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. We watched The Book of Life and enjoyed popcorn, pizza, nachos, and refreshments. Thank you all who came out to join us and support our PTA!
Raising a Reader begins this week. We are focusing on literacy, numeracy and future readiness. Please join us so that you can learn about how to support your child with reading at home. Education is a partnership between the school and home. The first 20 people to register and attend the sessions will earn a book set for their students. There will be certficates for parents and reading medals awarded to the TK, Kinder and 1st grade students whose parents attend the sessions as well. Please see the flyer below and get registered!
Please remember that I have an open door policy. I can be reached via email, Parent Square, or phone call. We are partners in your scholar's education!
Let’s remember to Dive Into Discovery!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Ramona Rodriguez

Ms. Natasha Harris
Dear Simpson Families,
We have made some adjustments to our calendar. Please check the September calendar for some changes. We will be moving the start date for the 100 Mile Club to Tuesday, September 24 to ensure that the air quality is safe for our students who will participate. The date for our Dads event on September 23 has been changed to Monday, October 7. Please review our calendar for any updates.
We will be having a workshop for parents in our Family Resource Center this Thursday, September 26 at 9:00 a.m. It will be a hybird workshop - you can join us in person or online. Please register so we can pull your student's data for this meeting. The topic will be: How is My Child Doing? iReady, CAASPP, ELPAC, and Attendance Reports will be given to those who register ahead of time. We hope to see you there.
Below you will also see the Rialto USD Cell Phone and Dress Code Policies. It is important that our students follow these guidelines while they are at school. Please call Mrs. Rodriguez or I, if you have any questions regarding these policies. Please be sure to login to Parent Vue in order to access, review and download our Simpson Student & Parent Handbook for the 24-25 school year.
Stay Hydrated: It's going to be a fantastic year, and we want our students to stay refreshed. Please send them to school with a water bottle labeled with their name and room number. Hydrated minds are happy minds!
Lost & Found: Please remember to label all of your students items with their names & room number such as sweaters and jackets, lunchbags, water bottles. This will help get items back to their owners.

Drive Thru Drop Off & Pick Up Zone Delineators - Changes
Please be careful when pulling out of the drop off lane. Please do not drop off students in the left lane that is only to be used for driving thru. That lane is only for cars that have dropped off students in the morning or picked up students in the afternoon. If you do use that left lane, please be aware of the cross walk and cars that may also be entering into that lane. Our afterschool dismissal has become a faster process, but we need to be safe and still use caution when moving into the left drive thru lane. Thank you to our Safety Team of Simpson Parents, Safe Routes, and Rialto USD Safety Officer Ramirez for helping us make these changes.

Legends of Learning - Math Base Camp
Click on the link below to learn more about Legends of Learning - Math Base Camp. This program supports our efforts for students to learn their math facts. Research tells us that students who know their math facts by memory have more success with higher level mathematics.
Parents, you can help your students learn their math facts! Learn more about it here:
"A key part—though surely not the only part—of early-grades math is ensuring students get the basic arithmetic functions down and, beyond that, making sure they’re able to swiftly and automatically recall addition number combinations and the times tables. Those skills help kids advance when multidigit arithmetic, fractions, and long division enter the picture—allowing them to focus on more complex problem-solving instead of simple computation."

Lost & found items will be taken out in the Lost and Found blue rolling cart at dismissal. The Lost & Found cart will be at the dismissal area in front of the school every Friday. We will also share pictures of lost items on Friday morning via Parent Square.
The Lost and Found cart will be stationed in front of the cafeteria on a daily basis. Please remind your student to check when they lose an item.
Please put your student's name on all of their items: lunchpails, water bottles, jackets, sweaters, etc. Include their first & last name, room number. This will help us get any lost items back to their owner and lower the amount of lost articles. At the end of the month, we will donate any unclaimed items from the Lost & Found.
