From the Desk of Ms. Ulloa
Spring is in the air!
As we approach the fourth and final grading cycle for the school year, seniors are anticipating graduation, while freshmen, sophomores, and juniors have completed course selections for next year. It is truly an exciting time of the year!
Congratulations to the seniors who have been accepted into any college or university! Please share acceptance letters with us. Many students are also embarking on varied internships and/or gearing up for summer dual credit courses. Send the information to Mrs. Sheffield at djohnsonsheffield@dallasisd.org. Also, share any scholarships so that we may celebrate with you!
Testing season is here!
We have EOC STAAR state testing coming up in April. Please ensure your students have a good night's sleep, bring their computer fully charged, and are present for testing. See testing dates below:
April 2nd -5th - TSIA2 – SENIORS (12th graders) who have not yet taken and passed the Reading/Writing and Math TSIA2.
April 9th – ENGLISH I EOC – (9th grade)
April 10th – ENGLISH II EOC – (10th grade)
April 16th – BIOLOGY – (9th grade)
April 17th – US HISTORY – (10th grade)
April 23rd – ALGEBRA I – (9th graders who take the course)
Students will continue to have their dual credit courses on the days they are not testing and are expected to complete any work assigned if they have to miss the course due to testing. KEEP IN MIND that we only have about 6 more weeks of college courses. There is little time left to ensure students are being successful.
Attendance for Credit Restoration Hours:
SEMESTER 2: If your scholar has missed five or more days in any particular class, he/she must complete
Attendance for Credit Restoration for each of those classes. You may view attendance in PowerSchool. Click HERE with your child to see if any hours are owed. There will be an opportunity to do hours Saturdays from 9-12 and Tues., Wed., & Thurs. each week from 4:40-5:40pm.
Tardies
For students who are not making it to class on time a tardy is issued. Once a student has
eight tardies, detention is assigned. Students must attend detention either during lunch or
after school. Please have a conversation with your student about getting to class on time.
Dress Code
During the interview process of becoming an E-TECH student, all families were advised that
students are REQUIRED to wear a uniform as part of this choice program. Uniforms continue to be required, and students not in compliance will receive a consequence. Students are asked to wear their E-TECH uniform on Monday and Wednesday with a spirit shirt on Friday. Please see the dress code requirements on the E-TECH website. For school safety, the student ID badge and clear/mesh backpacks are also a part of the dress code policy. To order uniform replacement items go to: Hillcrest E-Tech – Levines Stores.
