Battle of the Books Takes 3rd Place!
Congratulations to our students who competed in Battle of the Books on Thursday 10/24/24! This impressive team tied for 3rd place in their first Battle of the Books competition! Our team only missed two questions out of 40. There are 56 books to read this year, and we had 10 students participating, which means these kids have been extremely dedicated and are reading several books every week. We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to reading!
Thank you to our dedicated staff memebers, Laura Medina & Ashley Sudduth, for coaching and supporting this impressive team!

The Early Learner Initiatives seeks to boost preschool enrollment
It's never too early to prepare children for kindergarten. The Early Learner Initiatives program wants to increase our enrollment in our half-day and full-day preschool programs. If you have children ages 3 and 4, have them screened for preschool. Families can start the evaluation process through our district website here: u-46.org/registration.
These services are provided free of charge and offered in English and Spanish. For more information, call 847-888-5000, ext. 6094, or look online at u-46.org/earlylearners.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree Application for Christmas Assistance
Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year.
Once a child or senior adult has been registered and accepted as an Angel their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. The gifts are distributed to the family to place under their family Christmas tree.

DID YOU KNOW?
Research shows students should miss no more than nine days of school each year to stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduate.
Family participation is vital to this effort. None of our strategies can succeed without a strong partnership between families and our schools. Together, we can help students thrive and achieve a happy and successful educational experience.
Showing up to school every day is critical for children’s well-being, engagement and learning.
- A whole year has 365 days.
- A school year has only 176 days.
- That leaves 189 days to spend on family time, visits, holidays, shopping, and other appointments.
How sick is too sick for your child to go to school? Review this checklist to determine if you should send your child to school.
CHARGE STUDENT CHROMEBOOKS & iPADS
Please help your child form a daily habit of plugging in their Chromebook or iPad as soon as they get home from school so they come to school the following day with a fully charged device. Your child's skills in independence and responsibility will prepare them for a full day of academics.
