A Wedding at Lincoln
On March 27th, a long time couple, Q and U, finally wed! Kindergarteners had been learning about the phonemic sounds that are made by certain letters and this pairing was a big one to celebrate. Students came dressed in their very best clothing and they were adorned with tissue paper flowers and paper crowns to attend the celebration. The wedding was officiated by Principal Skomial and the students enjoyed a reception back in their classrooms. We are certain that students will remember the wedding they attended for the union of Q&U for years to come!
Excerpt from the wedding:
"Dearly beloved Kindergarteners
We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the joining
of Q and U in phonemic awareness marriage,
To watch them spend their lives together to make words
As you know, Q is never without U
And that is why we are here today
To celebrate this union of what we have learned in Kindergarten
We know that Q is never without U in the words queen, quilt and quarter."
Read Across America Week
Lincoln students enjoyed a week of themed-days and activities to celebrate Read Across America Week. Special guests joined us from TJ Middle School and our Rockaway Borough community to read in our classrooms. We also had a new author, Michael Torsiello, join us for writing workshops.
Learning Through Legos Assembly
World Down Syndrome Day
We celebrated World Down Syndrome Day at school by wearing our fun socks, which resemble the extra chromosomes that make children with Down Syndrome so special. As an extra special treat, Mrs. Barone came to read to our preschool classes.

Important Reminders
From Principal Skomial:
Happy April, everyone! As we await the warmer weather, please remember that we go outside on most days for recess. With this in mind, children should be dressed in pants and a sweatshirt/jacket on those chillier days. 🧥👖
I'd like to thank our HSA's Scholastic Book Fair Committee for putting together a great pop up shop at the AOG for our students. We appreciate all that you do for our school community! 📚
This month, our school staff will be donating to a wonderful organization that serves students with autism and other diverse needs. Pathways for Exceptional Children, based in Montville, offers many programs from sports to technology taught by other children. With April being Autism Acceptance Month, our staff will be donating to Pathways and wearing blue shirts on Wednesdays to show our support and solidarity for our students with autism. Please have your children join us in wearing blue on Wednesdays!
On Fridays, Lincoln staff members wear RAMS gear and casual clothing. We invite our students to join us in wearing their RAMS shirts, sweatshirts, or any other maroon clothing. Let's show our RAMS pride! 🐏
We have lots of fun initiatives happening in the coming months so be sure to note the dates at the top of this newsletter. I will continue to communicate these activities via ClassTag (Connect).
I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing and safe Spring Break! 🦋🌷🌈
Kindergarten Registration (March 18th-April 12th)
The Rockaway Borough School District's Kindergarten registration for the 2024/2025 school year will begin the week of March 18th. Children must be five years old on or before October 1, 2024 to enroll. After submitting the online registration form and uploading all necessary documents, registrants will need to select a date and time for an in-person screening. There will be an in person, optional, orientation one evening in April and two screening dates will be offered. The dates are being revised due to the need to extend registration this year. If there are any questions regarding the registration procedures, please reach out the school secretary, Mrs. Murphy, at kmurphy@rockboro.org or call 973-625-8602 ext. 200.
