NEWSLETTER | TERM 2| WEEK 5| 30 MAY 2025
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of rest and the blessing of a long weekend.
May these days be filled with peace, laughter, and moments that refresh the soul.
Grant us safe travels, joyful gatherings, and time to reconnect - with ourselves, with loved ones, and with what truly matters.
Help us to release the stress of the week and embrace the calm that comes with slowing down.
May we return renewed, recharged, and ready to face the days ahead with clarity and purpose.
Amen.
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
What an amazing day we had celebrating our Day of Friendship! The school was buzzing with joy, kindness, and the spirit of connection. It was heartwarming to see so many Friendship Ninjas in action - singing friendship songs, wearing ninja headbands, making bracelets, and engaging in meaningful conversations through โTalk It Out.โ Watching our students bond with their buddy classes was truly special. A huge thank you to Mrs. Butson and her team for bringing this beautiful day to life!
Last weekend was also a wonderful occasion as our parish came alive with families celebrating Confirmation. It was especially moving to see our school choirs join the parish for the first time, accompanied by a professional photographer to capture the moment. Sincere thanks to Mr. Scutti, Miss Rees, Mrs. Kirwan, Miss Dwyer, Mr. Kinder, and all the staff who supported this memorable event.
As we approach the end of term, a reminder that School Reports will be issued soon. As a parent myself, I understand the desire to see A grades, but itโs important to remember that reports reflect each childโs progress against the WA Curriculum, with a โCโ grade indicating they are achieving at the expected level.
This week, we also warmly welcomed Ms. Luciolo to our support team - it's wonderful to have her on board!
Wishing you all a joyful and restful extended WA Day weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Wednesday.
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer

Threadworm in the Community
There are many different types of intestinal worms, but the most common is threadworm (also called pinworm). Threadworm is a type of roundworm that is commonly found in preschool and school-aged children; however the whole family can become infected.
Threadworm causes a very itchy bottom, which is usually worse at night. If your child is infected with threadworm, it is not usually serious and can be treated easily with medication.
Signs and symptoms of threadworm
If your child has threadworm, they may:
- have an itchy bottom, which may become red and inflamed from scratching
- be irritable and generally โout of sortsโ
- not sleep very well
- have a reduced appetite.
Care at home
You can talk to a pharmacist about over-the-counter treatment options. Drugs such as Combantrin or Vermox are very safe and often recommended. Treat all the family members at the same time, even if they arenโt showing any symptoms. Adults can also get threadworm.
- If possible, your child should have a shower on the night they have the medicine, and again the next morning to remove the eggs laid during the night.
Unfortunately, repeat threadworm infection is very common. To help reduce this and to prevent the threadworms from spreading to others, you can take the following precautions:
- Despite the itching, encourage your child not to scratch their bottom. If they must scratch, make sure it is over their underpants and not directly on their skin.
- Keep your childโs fingernails clean and trimmed. Try to stop your child from biting their nails or sucking their thumb.
- Have your child wash their hands and under their nails thoroughly after going to the toilet.
- Wash your childโs bedding, towels and toys in hot water.
- Vacuum your floor often to remove any eggs.
- Clean surfaces in your house that your children may touch, in particular door handles.
- Discourage your child from eating food that has fallen on the floor.
