A few words from Mr. Jelks...
Dear LIS Families,
Our school is buzzing with excitement as students eagerly prepare for their upcoming holiday performance. They have been pouring their hearts into rehearsals to showcase their incredible talents. In addition, the festive spirit is shining brightly as our students and staff collaborate on creative decorations to celebrate the season.
While we regret to inform you that the PAC Holiday Plant Sale has been canceled, we are thrilled to announce a new charitable initiative! This year, our students are leading an effort to support families in Ladysmith during the holiday season.
Here’s how you can join in the fun and generosity:
- Each staff member will have a holiday jar located in the library. Students can place coins in the jars as part of a friendly competition prior to recess every day starting on December 9th.
- The staff member with the most donations in their jar will don a Christmas tree costume on Friday, December 20th—a festive treat for everyone!
- The contest will close on December 18th to allow us time to calculate the donations.
All funds collected will be donated to the Ladysmith Resource Centre to support families in need this holiday season.
Front Entrance Update
We are pleased to share that the work on our front entrance is progressing well and we are looking at a completion date prior to Winter break. We appreciate your patience during this time and remind everyone to continue using the temporary side entrances until further notice. Our goal is to ensure a safe and welcoming space for all, and we look forward to reopening the main entrance soon.
We are Kind....
We are Compassionate...
We are LIS...

Message from the Ladysmith Resource Centre
Here is a message from the LRC:
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share that the Rotary Club is organizing a charity coat drive on Saturday, November 23rd, with drop-off times between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm at the Community Space 314 Buller St. We are reaching out to the local business community and support organizations to join us in this heartfelt initiative.
We kindly ask you for used, wearable clothing items such as coats, sweaters, socks, scarves, and more. Your contributions will make a significant difference to those in need during the colder months.
Donations can be dropped off at the Community Space, located on the main floor of the Heart of the Hill building, during the designated times. Alternatively, if it's more convenient, you can contact me to arrange a pick-up from your place of business once you have gathered your clothing donations.
Thank you in advance for your generous support and participation. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community.
Purdy's Holiday Fundraiser
Ladysmith Intermediate Purdy's Christmas 2024. Support our fundraising campaign by purchasing Purdy's chocolates for gifts or just to treat yourself! Made with sustainable cocoa and crafted right here in Canada. Click on the attachment below to order or for more information.
The next scheduled PAC meeting will be on Thursday, Dec. 5th at 6:30pm in the LIS library. Please come on out and join the discussion on what's happening in your child's school. Click on the button below to join from home.
Attendance
We ask parents/guardians to call the school before 9:00 am at (250) 245-3351 or email Info.LI@sd68.bc.ca to notify the school of your child’s absence. Please follow up with a note to your child’s teacher when your child returns to school so the teacher can address any missed work, homework issues, etc. Also a reminder that if students need to leave early, they should be signed out in the main office.
School Closure
The following is a reminder about the NLPS school closure procedure for students.
If schools are closed due to snow, or any other weather-related problems, announcements will be made on local radio stations (WOLF 106.9 FM, WAVE 102.3 FM, and 91.7 COAST FM) by 7 a.m., or earlier, on the day of the closure. Please do not call the radio station – tune in and listen for the announcements, which will be made on a regular basis.
In addition, the district will post the information on the district’s website, Twitter, Facebook, and mobile app. Families may also receive a message through the School Messenger notification system via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind, however, that there may be situations where this is not always possible, for example, power outages or technical problems. The most reliable method is to listen to the local radio stations.
