May Virtue of the Month: Responsibility
The Virtue of Responsibility: We are participating in a Virtues in Practice program this year. Each month, our whole school focuses on the same virtue as we hope to grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. We learn more about the saints who exemplify these good habits. This month we are learning about the virtue of responsibility. Please join us during the month of May by praying for the children to be reliable in their duties and accountable for their actions.
Pigging Out for DI - TOMORROW!
Pigging Out for DI: Wednesday, May 8th
Students can place their "orders" this week for how they want to participate in our day of pigging out for DI! Students may wear pajamas, select an item (or 2) from our bake sale/treat table, enjoy a lemonade for lunch, and vote for the teacher that they want to see kiss a pig! Some students may even WANT to kiss a pig, too! They may buy tickets for a chance to pucker up! The DI teams thank you!
A Friendly Reminder from the Bookkeeper!
If you are requesting the Catholic tuition rate for next school year, the Pastoral Verification Form is due NEXT WEDNESDAY, May 15th to the school office. This requires a signature from your Pastor, so don't delay if you haven't already requested it. The Pastoral Verification form is attached to this week's newsletter. If you have questions, please e-mail Karen Farr at bookkeeper@fatherandrewwhite.org.

Important Dismissal Message
In order to provide for the safety of all of our students and a smooth dismissal, we want to give a friendly reminder regarding dismissal procedures.
1. Please notify the front office by 2pm if you are picking up your child early from school. This ensures for the proper notification of teachers, staff, students and front office.
2. Please avoid using the bus lane after 2pm for pickup.
3. Please ensure that the person picking up is listed on your student emergency contact list.
Thank you for your support!
Support FAW Destination Imagination!
We are excited to announce that two of our Destination Imagination (DI) teams from Father Andrew White School are two of the top-scoring DI teams in the state of Maryland and now have the opportunity to present their Challenge solution at the DI Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri —an international competition where they will compete against teams from around the globe.
Please consider donating to help these teams get to the Globals competition!! Destination Imagination is an educational, academic program that has helped our students learn and practice valuable skills like creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork through different competitive, STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) Challenges.
The teams are working hard to raise the $5,500/team registration fee plus the almost $1,000/student it will take to get them there to experience this amazing opportunity! Raising $20K in only one month’s time is daunting, but they are DItermined!!! Every gift is a blessing and we truly appreciate your support! Thank you so much for your contributions.
Panda Express Spirit Night - TOMORROW!
Chick Fil A Mobile Spirit Night - next Monday!
The Band, Chorus and 3rd Grade Recorder Concert is this Thursday!
Our Band/Chorus concert is this Thursday, May 9th at 6:30pm in the FAW gym. Band and Chorus members should report to the school by 6:00pm in black bottoms/white top concert attire.
Third graders will have their recorder debut during the concert on the FAW Stage. Mrs. Cacko will have music ready for the students. Third graders just need to arrive, wearing their Sunday best, to the FAW gym (where they will sit with their class) no later than 6:20pm. We can't wait for the 3rd graders to show off their recorder skills!
Progress Reports
Reports for grades 4-8 will be posted to the portal tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8th. We ask you to please keep in mind that we still have new lessons to teach and work to accomplish. We hope you will support us in encouraging the children to keep studying and to continue to make their school work a priority.
Spring Uniforms are in Effect
Please ensure that your student's uniform is compliant. Remember to check that your student has a belt that fits, buttons are secure on skirts and haircuts are the proper length. Also, our students love to be active at recess! Please ensure your child wears shorts under jumpers or skirts. Thank you for your support and cooperation!

One of the first specialists I remember learning about is a podiatrist, or someone who treats feet and their ailments. I remember an elderly neighbor needing to visit one to get his toenails trimmed, and I remember thinking, “That’s kinda weird!” (I later learned he had something called diabetic neuropathy which can cause pain and numbness in the feet, thus presenting the danger that he could injure himself and not even realize it.) Nowadays, rather than going to a podiatrist for a nail trim, I know of many people that visit nail salons to get pedicures. In fact, if you’re looking for something for Mother’s Day, a gift certificate might not be a bad idea. Our feet really do deserve to be pampered for doing the important jobs of supporting our bodies and enabling us to be mobile. If not a pedicure, maybe a gift certificate for reflexology or a foot massage, or a really nice pair of shoes, or even some of those detox pads for the bottoms of your feet. (Of course if you want to go the cheaper route, I’ve heard that sleeping with a sliced onion on the bottom of your foot with a sock over it works just as well!) Lastly, for foot care, nothing beats walking barefoot to ground yourself with “Mother Earth”. And for showing your mom care, nothing beats praying for her to Father God, on Mother’s Day and always.
Calling all Bakers!
Do you need that last hour or two to finish out your service hours for the year? Well, our Destination Imagination teams need your help! We are asking for individually wrapped baked goods that can be sold after Masses at St. Aloysius on Mother's Day, May 12th. Items can be brought directly to Mass or dropped off during school hours on Friday, May 10th. Thank you for your continued support!
