January 2025 Edition
Principals Message
Wow! It's 2025!!
We hope you all had an amazing break and were able to enjoy your family and friends. We are so excited to have kids back in our halls- we've missed you!! It was wonderful to see all our smiling faces this morning! Thank you for getting them back to school! We are starting on the Spring Semester and back to a more normal schedule for a little while. We will look at all of our Middle of Year data and make plans for the Spring Semester based on where kids are at currently. We will begin our SEL unit on Responsibility this month.
I have no doubt the Spring Semester will fly by just as quickly. Please ensure to check student folders every night and read through the newsletters for updated information!
Please see below for the schedule for January and some reminders for our return to school.

Attendance Reminder
Texas Education Code (TEC) Section 25.092, also known as the 90% rule requires students in grades K-12 attend at least 90% of class days to receive credit or a final grade. The rule applies to ALL absences including excused absences. It applies regardless of whether the student has a 504 or IEP plan. If a student falls below the 90% attendance rate, they may:
- Complete an attendance recovery plan approved by the principal to earn credit.
- Be referred to the Campus Attendance Committee.
- Have truancy filed with the county.
Students who are below the 90% mark on attendance will be required to make up missed days through attendance recovery. Letters will be coming home this week in student folders for all students below the 90% threshold (9 or more absences).
Attendance Drawing
All students with perfect attendance for each six weeks of the second semester will be entered into a drawing for a large attendance prize! Each six weeks prize will be announced at the beginning of this six weeks.
The 4th six weeks prize is a bicycle! Get your kids to school for their chance to win this awesome incentive!
Dress Code Reminder
Cold weather is HERE! , please remind your students the following about dress code. Students out of dress code will be asked to call home for a change of clothes.
- Hoods on hoodies may not be worn on heads during the school day
- Hats may not be worn in the building (unless a designated "hat day" dress up day)
- Pajama Pants are not permitted at school (unless a designated dress up day)
- Slippers and blankets are not permitted at school

SEL Character Trait of the Month
SEL- Social Emotional Learning
Every week we are doing a Social Emotional Learning lesson. SEL teaches students about self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. Each week, these lessons will tie into the overall theme or character trait for that month! We tied this unit into our classroom and campus procedures and expectations. Our PAX Behavior system and our Brave Bucks.
January's theme/character trait is Responsibility
Within the Responsibility "unit" of SEL we will discuss the following:
- Resilience
- Responsibility
- Anger
House Cup Challenge
There was a tight race between houses for our 3rd Six Weeks House Cup Competition!
The winner of the house cup for the third six weeks is: SERVITIUM! Congratulations to all students in the Servitium house! We will have a HOUSE lunch this week and present them with their class trophy. Thank you for working hard and being amazing PAX Leaders!
REMINDERS
Tardy Students
Parents must come into the front office to check in Tardy Students. This is ANY student arriving after 8:00am. Please bring them to the front office and not to the drop off line.
Thank you!
Reminder to send in Drs. Notes
Please send in Dr's. Notes with your students who are absent for it to be an excused absence. Dr's notes must be submitted within three days of each student absence for it to be counted as an excused absence. You will be receiving call outs for all student absences.
Medicine/Cough Drops
Reminder that students are not allowed to carry any medicine or cough drops on their person. They must be turned into Nurse Thomas and a form completed for her to administer. This includes but is not limited to: cough drops, inhalers, OTC Meds, and prescription medications. All medicines must be given by the school nurse if they need to be given at school. Thank you!
Drop off Line
REMINDER ON WHAT TO DO: Please pull in the line to drop off students. Pull all the way up to the cafeteria door to let students out and into the building unless a staff member is there to walk them to the door.
WHAT TO AVOID: Please avoid pulling in to the staff parking lot and afternoon pick up lane and having students walk. Our cafeteria truck delivers there in the AM and we want to ensure student safety and avoid them having to pass in front of the delivery trucks.
Join the PAC Tribe
Join our PAC Tribe to help out at school!
- What does PAC do?
- PAC celebrates our students of the month with a small gift
- PAC Give-to-a-kid: They give treats to students each month
- Pumpkin Decorating
- PAC helps us on event nights, with our brave store, and many other opportunities to support our students!
Check-In to Office
For student safety and security, all visitors must check in to each campus front office and get a visitors badge before going anywhere else on campus. For Elementary, please make sure to check in with Mrs. Lara before proceeding into any building. Thank you!
