Students and Parents/Guardians,
I hope you have had the opportunity to get out and enjoy some of the sunshine we had this past weekend. I just have a few new items to share and realize you are receiving many communications so I will be as brief as possible. As always, please feel free to contact me at mmahoney@gananda.org or call 315-986-3521 if you have any questions.
Academic Updates/Expectations/Reminders:
Distance learning (Remote/Online) will continue for the remainder of the school year per the Governor’s order.
We will not be administering final exams.
Regents Exams are cancelled for this school year. Regents course credit will now be determined by passing the course.
Schoology weekly digest will now come on Saturday after 6:00 PM. This will allow time for rubric scores to be entered and you to receive the most updated information.
IMPORTANT: For all courses, student's performance each week will be evaluated using the Distance Learning Rubric. This will factor into determining course completion and credit. It is especially important because earning course credit impacts your ability to graduate, attend summer school and/or take courses in the future. Please make sure you are putting forth your best effort and reaching out for help as needed.
High School Events:
All events are being reviewed and when final determinations are made they will be communicated out.
Staying connected and there is support if needed:
Our mental health team continues to reach out and provide support and resources. Here is a link to an article from our team. Please take time to read as you will find some useful information. https://www.childrensinstitute.net/about-us/blog/sel/three-questions.
If you feel that you may need some extra support, please don’t hesitate to access the Gananda Mental Health Support line at (315) 986-3521 ext. 4401 or contact one of our Mental Health Support staff through email:
- Mrs. Kelleher - School Counselor - kkelleher@gananda.org
- Mrs. Crelley - School Counselor - mcrelley@gananda.org
- Mrs. Thoen - Social Worker - sthoen@gananda.org
- Mr. Whitt - School Psychologist - twhitt@gananda.org
Please continue to take care of yourself - get enough sleep at night, eat healthy food, exercise and get outside! These are all very basic ways to maintain some sort of balance in your life during a particularly stressful time.
I want to thank you all for the support and your commitment to learning and our school community. Keep up the good work, stay healthy and reach out if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Mr. Mahoney
