The gastronomic boom Peru is experiencing has led to an explosion of more successful and innovative restaurants than ever before. Lima is also where the cocktail, Pisco Sour, originated. On this amazing tour, we will not only visit the top restaurants in the city, but also have classes in creating our own Pisco Sour cocktails with the topmost authority on this popular spirit, Johnny Schuler!

Chef Uno Immanivong
Uno was recently on ABC's "The Taste" representing Team Anthony Bourdain. She is also the owner of Chino Chinatown in Trinity Groves and is a co-host on Crave Radio 1190.
Chef Tiffany Derry
You may know Tiffany from Season 7 of Top Chef where she was voted "fan favorite", she was also a finalist on Top Chef All-Stars. Tiffany is currently working on two Spike television shows, Bar Rescue and Hungry Investors.
Johnny Schuler
Johnny Schuler - master distiller of Portón, the finest handcrafted pisco from Peru – is a television personality, author, chef & restaurateur. Johnny is recognized as a leading authority on the Pisco category internationally and also owns two restaurants in Lima: Key Club and La Granja Azul.
Day 1: Intro to Peruvian Cuisine
- Tour of the colonial district Barranco, including organic coffee shop and hidden garden cafe
- Visit to a local market in the San Isidro district to try different fruits and explore Peruvian products
- Pisco Sour & Ceviche Class with Johnny Schuler of Portón, followed by lunch at Chez Wong – a mysterious, yet simple culinary gem housed inside co-host Chef Javier Wong’s home. Located in La Victoria neighborhood, Chez Wong is a 20 seat restaurant that has no signage or menu, but offers one of the most unique ceviche experiences in Lima
- Guided tour of Peru’s best museum, Larco Museum with artifacts relevant to gastronomy
- Gourmet Peruvian lunch on the museum terrace, menu designed by chef Gaston Acurio
- Dinner at chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino’s award-winning Amazonian restaurant Amaz. Chef Schiaffino's fusion of traditional recipes from the Amazon and modern gourmet presentation takes patrons outside Lima's city limits. Amaz is an exciting palate pleaser with cocktails made from exotic jungle fruits and an array of dishes that are like nothing you've ever tasted before
Day 2: Asian Peruvian Fusion
- Guided tour of the Museum of Gastronomy in the center of Lima
- Discovering Chinatown – we will explore this area of town and visit local shops
- Lunch in Chinatown to highlight the Chinese-Peruvian fusion: Chifa
- Exotic Peruvian cocktails and Asian-influenced seafood dinner at beachfront restaurant Cala. One of the city's few waterfront dining restaurants, Cala is a chic, modern restaurant. The dining room is upstairs, with a wall of glass on the ocean side. Enjoy a selection of Peruvian nouveau cuisine while listening to the cries of seagulls and the waves washing the stones back and forth
Day 3: Ancient Peruvian Cuisine
- Free morning to explore the city
- Travel outside of Lima to Pachacamac for lunch
- Traditional pachamanca lunch to appreciate ancient culinary techniques of cooking the food in the ground to honor Mother Earth (Pachamama)
- Travel back to Lima for tour of the Miraflores district
- Gourmet Peruvian dinner at restaurant Huaca Pucllana, run by Cordon-Bleu trained chef Marilu Madueño
- Huaca Pucllana is built within a pre-Incan archeological complex which we will tour - undoubtedly a highlight of tourism in Peru. This prestigious restaurant is so impressive that the King of Spain, Mick Jagger, Bill and Hillary Clinton, just to name a few, have made sure not to miss it during their trips to Lima
Day 4: Let's Cook
- Shopping trip to a traditional market for ingredients to be used at lunch
- Three course cooking class focusing on Peru’s star dishes and culinary history
- Enjoy the lunch you made during class with a few drinks
- During the evening head back to Barranco to see the district illuminated at night and try Creole-Peruvian dishes and desserts that were inspired during the Spanish occupation of Peru
Day 5: The Full Experience
- Free morning to take in the last day in Lima
- Lunch at a restaurant that features typical cuisine from the southern region of Arequipa
- Free time in the afternoon to shop, explore and wander around Lima
- Closing dinner with a delicious tasting menu at Gastón Acurio’s most famous restaurant, Astrid & Gastón. Gastón Acurio has a fine-dining empire that now stretches from Madrid to New York, but this Miraflores original remains his signature eatery, epitomising not just his Peruvian- Mediterranean style but also his own character. Astrid & Gastón came in at #14 on the list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants 2013
