ELA: We will talk about the steps in a sequence of a story; what is first, next, and last in a story. We will introduce digraphs - /wh/- review /wh/. Have students make up words with /wh/ at either the beginning or end of words. We will review how students should hold and read a book the correct way.

Social Studies: We will learn about National Holidays and discuss how our families celebrate them.
Math: We are working on addition and understanding how to read word problems to create addition equations.

Science: We will learn about different weather patterns and how it affects our daily lives.
Friendly reminder: If your scholar has a fever or is not feeling well, please keep them home until their symptoms are gone for at least 24 hours. We are trying to alleviate the spread of germs within our classrooms.

Fascinating First Grade News!
Welcome back families!
We hope you had a restful fall break. First grade did a wonderful job, jumping back into their routine.
As we look ahead, December is filled with eventful happenings!
Please look out for a few permission slips as first grade will prepare for our stem exploration through gingerbread construction later this month. We also look forward to our annual winter day (more details to come)!

First Grade Team
Spectacular Second Grade News!
Upon our return, we will continue Unit 2 theme Nature's Wonders in reading. In math, we will finish topic 6 fluently subtracting within 100 and prepare for the topic assessment. In science, we will continue topic 3 Earth's Water and Land. In social studies, we will continue chapter 3 titled Government.
As we continue to settle into the school year, we kindly request your support in reinforcing the importance of following our School Motto with your scholars. I will Respect Myself and Others, I will Opt to Be Scholarly, I will Act Responsibly, and I will React with Kindness. Lastly, please label your scholar's school uniform jackets and coats.
Thanksgiving Break-November 27-29
STEM Fair Project- DECEMBER 6TH Students should formulate a good experiment question and begin their experiment and research.
It is highly recommended that scholars practice their basic addition and subtraction facts with flashcards regularly at home. Here's a great tool to use:

Terrific Third Grade News!
In Social Studies, students will continue working on Chapter 3: Lesson 2 Early Explorers.
In Math, we will continue to collect and organize information, or data, into graphs, charts, and tables. We'll use a variety of graphs, including picture and bar graphs, to answer questions.
In Science, we are continuing to learn about the water cycle and how it relates to weather.

Nest week will be a week of giving. Please plan on supporting those in need by giving back to the community! We hope you had an outstanding holiday and got some well deserved rest. Next week, we are ready for excellence in all we do
SUBJECT CONTENT:
RELA
Students will continue to monitor comprehension and analyze text structures in the informational text
"A Place for Frogs." We will migrate into our progress check in the following week.
Students will create ideas for an informational text and identify how ideas help authors research and write information regarding a topic.
Vocabulary: comeback, native, migrating, restore, and fungus
Social Studies
Students will finalize Chapter 5: "American Revolution" with the assessment.
Math
This week in math, we will continue to divide decimals.
Science
This week in science, students will be able to continue to finalize and explain parts of the water cycle.
Team 5th Grade
Superior Specials News!
Kindergarteners are working on Lines and Shapes. We have reviewed safe scissor use and techniques.
Students will create their own artwork focused on lines and shapes and experiment with collage.
First graders are finishing a project called,
I Love My Hair!
Students will create a portrait with an abstract hair design that depicts a particular mood or feeling, using line, repetition, pattern, and color.
Second graders are creating imaginary creatures in
“Monster Mashup”
Students will present their never-before-seen creature hybrids by combining parts from five animals, to create one in its habitat. We will critique next week.
Third graders are making Patterned Landscapes. Students will create a landscape that contains patterns.
Fourth grade, Names Revealed Through Color:
Students are creating geometric name designs using color, shapes, lines, and text to express an aspect of their personality. They will submit Artist Statements next week along with a critique
Fifth graders are making “Monster Line Drawings” Students create illustrations from random markings to create a 3D image with form and texture. Artist Statements and reviews are due next week.
Music
Hello!!! K has finished doing activities that teaches them the appropriate times to use our voice for talking, singing, shouting, and whispering. 1st & 2nd grade have been learning about weak and strong beats. 3rd grade is creating their own rhythms/patterns using cups. 4th and 5th grade are beginning their group project in creating their own rhythm for the drums and melody for the piano!
Technology
Hello! K-2 students practiced Introduction to Online Safety: Protecting Your Privacy
This engaging video-based learning object provides the learner with foundational knowledge about the importance of protecting their personal information. The learner understand that they shouldn't share any personal information online anyone they don’t know and trust; and they should always log off or lock their device to protect their personal information.
3-5 students practiced: Netiquette in Online Communication
In this animated video-based learning activity, Trey and two of his classmates are collaborating on their Virtual Science Fair project in a private chatroom when netiquette issues derail them from their task. The lesson introduces what netiquette is, why it’s important, and shows some of the negative sides of online communication.

LEGO
Hello! We are completing assessments on our last lessons and continuing to move through the curriculum and Lego lessons. We will be working on the following:
K-1: XL World: Helping Hands
2: Science in Nature & Our Daily Life: Protection from Wind
3: Animals & Their Environment: Solving problems when environments change
4-5: Science Connection: Prepare for natural hazards
STEM II
Greetings parents,
K-1: This week, we explored balloons in the Macy’s Parade & selected a character for their balloon.
2nd-3rd: Scholars had an introduction to Indi Sphero bots. They explored what makes them move and how far they can travel without interruption.
4th: This week, scholars visited the Spy Museum and learned how spies operate.
Scholars are preparing to sew the pieces of their backpacks together.
5th: This week, we looked at images of floats in the Macy’s Parade. Then, scholars began collaboratively planning the theme for their group float and deciding what they would like to include on their float to support their theme.
