Our St. Joseph Altar
This month, please contribute generously to our St. Joseph Altar in honor of Our Patron, St. Joseph, the Foster Father of Families. Items of greatest need are listed below. Thank you in advance for your support of the St. Joseph Parish-St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry.
School-Wide Theme for the Year
At St. Joseph Catholic School, each and every day we are training students to be missionary disciples, and learning to recognize God in our lives and in the world around us,
with hearts full of CHARITY for our fellow man.
Our Mission and Vision Statements
Mission:
St. Joseph Catholic School provides students with a nurturing and prayerful learning environment committed to academic excellence, training missionary disciples to seek virtue, wisdom, and truth, in partnership with a community of active and faithful families.
Vision:
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Worth are committed to opening the doors so that our students can reach further than the walls that would otherwise enclose them and therefore are able to recognize and cherish the eternal and transcendental goods of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
Motto:
Teaching the Mind...Nourishing the Soul
From the Principal
This month we honor Our Patron, St. Joseph, Protector of Families, for his feast day is March 19th. Although we will be on break on this special day, we plan to celebrate St. Joseph during the entire month of March through contributions to our St. Joseph Altar Food Collection and our St. Joseph Feast Day parties on Friday.
Prayers to St. Joseph are known to be powerful, for Joseph was chosen to be the foster father of Jesus Christ here on earth. This distinction would not be given to just any man. If you are ever in need, take a moment to pray the following prayer to St. Joseph for his intercession.
Memorare to St. Joseph
Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who implored your help and sought your intercession were left unassisted.
Full of confidence in your power I fly unto you and beg your protection.
Despise not O Guardian of the Redeemer my humble supplication, but in your bounty, hear and answer me.
Amen.

8th Grade Student of the Month Award
Maddie Rusnak is the 8th Grade Student of the Month! Maddie is kind towards her teachers and her peers. She contributes to classroom discussion, maintains a positive attitude, and works hard.
Maddie is a sweet girl who truly enjoys learning. She comes to class ready to learn and always puts forth her best effort. She is incredibly hard-working! Her love for God is apparent in all that she does. She has a zeal for life and will defend the truths of the Church when given the opportunity. She plays volleyball for the school and soccer for the school and city. She was selected to represent SJCS on the diocesan All Star soccer team. She is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was recently selected for the Diocesan History Fair at Nolan Catholic High School. Maddie is active in community theater and has been in three Nolan Catholic Theater Company performances.
Bravo, Maddie! Thank you for modeling such leadership!
Frassati Award Recipients
Congratulations to Caroline Rihani for receiving the Frassati Medal Award! She has been seen being kind and helpful to all. She can often be seen quietly helping another student or doing simple tasks around the classroom; all without being asked to do so. Caroline never expects praise in return for her kindness, but humbly serves others consistently and with a smile on her face. Thank you for leading others by your example, Caroline.
Caroline embodies the Beatitude, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Well done, Caroline!
Emilia Ibarra embodies the spirit of a true follower of Christ. She displays many virtues on a daily basis, but today her meekness and humility shone bright. It was our homeroom's turn to clean the tables after lunch. Many rushed with the table cleaning and did a poor job. Emilia stayed behind without being asked and cleaned multiple tables. She put into action the first, fourth and fifth Beatitude by being the last of all, the servant of all, and by doing the right thing.
The Beatitude Emilia exhibits is "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Well done, Emilia!
Words are not enough to express this person's gratitude to Ariana Pham, who displayed an act of kindness. On Wednesday morning while dropping off a school bag and lunch box, Ariana saw this person coming in with bags. While trying to drop off the bags at the office, Ariana refused this person to do that, instead she insisted to take the two bags, including her own two bags to the classroom. Her statement was" Your daughter is my friend and we are in the same class, why would I allow you to drop off her bags in the office when, I can easily carry the bags along with me?" This person responded back to her, "It's okay, they are heavy," but she still insisted on carrying the bags along with her. This person's heart bled with her kindness and the level of responsibility she displayed.
The Beatitude Ariana displayed, "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy". Well done, Ariana!
Congratulations to Kindergarten student, Alastair Smidebush! He has shown peace during recess conflicts, like soccer or center activities. Alastair will try to bring a resolution to a problem and always tries to help others get along and be fair. When someone is being unfair, he uses kind words and talks things out with his friends so that everyone involved can work to solve conflicts and be happy. Alastair is ALWAYS willing to give a helping hand to his teacher and his classmates. He brings peace and kindness to the learning environment.
The Beatitude Alastair exhibits is, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God". Well done, Alastair!
Monday Morning Prayer Services
March 3rd Prayer Service
Thank you to Mrs. Waldrep's Kindergarten Knights for sharing their blossoming leadership skills with the school community at prayer service.
During the Lenten Season, we symbolically retire the word "alleluia" by rolling it up and securing it in a special resting place, to reflect the somber tone of the season.

Giving of Ourselves to Others
The boxes we assembled during Catholic Schools Week arrived and have been shared with members of 1836th TC in Kuwait. Mr. Lopez (aka SGT. Lopez and husband of Mrs. Shannon Lopez) was especially glad to receive the special box from Mrs. Wolanin’s 3B class - “Please tell them I am very grateful. I received all of my favorites!”
Thank you all for supporting the Operation Spartan Shield mission in this tangible way! All of the students thoughtful cards and donations from across the school were appreciated!
